Episode 9 – Greg Kowner, Part 2: Bikeschule, skateboards and throwbacks Skids & Giggles Mountain Bike Podcast

    • Hobbys

Pascal sat down with Greg Kowner, owner of Biroma Bikes, the Bikeschule Zürich as well as, more recently, Biroma BMX. This is the second part of the conversation with Greg where we cover the bike school and what the most successful courses are, new trails, destinations as well as Greg's personal journey with mountain bikes. We picked up on the different dynamics of different rider groups, something we’ve covered with Yeti and Lucy before, and how Greg picks the right destination when he is guiding groups. Greg and Pascal also talk about skateboarding, the Olympics, freestyle sports and, of course, our favourite bikes from way back.

As we have said from the outset – have a listen to the intro in Episode 1 if you missed it – we wanted to offer a “different take” on the local community here in Switzerland and this episode marks the first time that we are trying to cross the proverbial bridge between our English-speaking, Switzerland-based podcast and just having a conversation with our friends in the local dialect!

Bryson and I discuss the main takeaways of the conversation with Greg and provide our own perspectives so that the English speaking listener also gets the overall picture of the conversation. If you do understand Swiss German, you can just listen to the one on one with Greg after our discussion to get the full picture.

We’ve bounced this idea off of a couple of our friends before we went ahead so we are really curious to see if this works. We do know that a good portion of our listeners is tuning in from abroad, so just let us know in the comments, in a message or a quick email what you think!
