Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. with The NAACP GP Chamber Chat

    • Firmengründung

Welcome to GP Chamber Chats with the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce! I am your host, Rachele Wright and Director of Social Media with the GPCC.

On today's episode, we had the privilege of speaking with Cynthia M. Douglas, President of the NAACP branch for Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods. On March 14, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., spoke at Grosse Pointe South High School.  Weeks later he was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. Each year on March 14, the Grosse Pointes & Harper Woods Branch honors Dr. King's visit to the Pointes.  This year the branch will host a youth town hall type event with Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, author of How to be an Anti-Racist as our guest speaker. We spoke about the significance of this event and how you can learn more even if you aren't able to attend.

While this in-person event is currently sold out, a live-stream replay will be available in the weeks following the event. Please reach out to mlk.14march2022@gmail.com or contact the NAACP branch directly gphw.naacp33aa@gmail.com to secure your copy
