Episode 22 - Anxiety Series - Viral Anxiety

When anxiety shows up, it has a tendency of trying to take over.  It runs the meeting in your mind and either dictates with a sense of urgency what you need to do, or it can become immobilizing with everything it is holding onto in that pressing moment.  Anxiety can feel like it is taking over, but in this four part Anxiety series, my hope is to encourage us to slow things down.  Let's investigate together.  Let's get curious about what is happening when we feel anxious.  Your anxiety might just be there for a purpose.  The four areas in this series are looking at what happens within us when anxiety shows up in our Cognitions (thoughts), Transitions, our Trauma Reminders, and when Anxiety goes Viral all around us.

This episode looks at what to do when anxious symptoms are occurring all around us and Anxiety goes Viral!  We are slowing down the presence of anxiety by talking about:

    (1) How do we stay calm when others are anxious?

    (2) How do we help a friend in need without becoming a friend in need?

    (3) Checking in with ourselves before and after we walk into a room

*This podcast exists as an avenue to provide a free resource for people everywhere to have access to mental and emotional health. Seeing a therapist is not something that everyone has access to or even the finances to accommodate, but the message of healing and breakthrough don't only happen in a counseling room, you can grow in your understanding of emotional health right at home, and I hope this podcast stirs an initiative of inner freedom in your life.  Thank you for listening and for helping people hear these much needed freedom reminders by sharing the episodes that make an impact in your life.  Subscribe and stay connected with the Inner Freedom Initiative by following @innerfreedominitiative on social media or join me at the innerfreedominitiatve.com and sign up for the monthly #FreedomThoughts newsletter where we are all Freedom Seekers.

In this episode, Emily puts a focus on giving you tools to carry with you when trauma related anxiety surfaces in your life.  Knowing why the body responds the way it does can help us all learn how to slow down our breathe when anxiety feels like it is pressing into our lungs.  This episode will be soft and slow because we are journeying into a place that is hard and heavy.  Whether you are listening to this episode to better care for yourself, or to understand the experience of someone you care about, in today's episode you will hear more about:

    (1) Calming down our breathe with Box Breathing and a Safe Place Exercise

    (2) Noticing the alarm that goes off in your body

    (3) Stop, Look, Listen, and Separate

    (1) Making room in our life for transitions

    (2) Releasing the sense of urgency

Episode 17 - Marriage Basics Part 7: Spiritual Growth

Marriage Basics is a 7-episode short series all about growing the relationship with your spouse. Each brief episode highlights an area where you and your marriage can be intentional in the way you both love one another.

In this episode, we change things up a bit by hearing Emily and her husband Matt read through some of Ephesians 5 in the Bible to talk about how our relationship with God plays a role in how we appreciate and understand love in marriage.
