The lowest grade is grade one, while the highest grade is grade five. A Gleason score of six represents a low-grade cancer, while a Gleason score of seven or eight indicates a moderate or high-grade cancer.
The Gleason score can be very helpful in determining whether or not you have prostate cancer. If you have a high-grade tumor on a needle biopsy, it will be included in your Gleason score.
