Prior to the introduction of lasers into practices within dermatology, the majority of cutaneous lesions were untreatable. In the 1960s lasers were introduced into dermatology and were then revolutionized in the 1980s by Anderson and Parrish. This lead to the selective photothermolysis theory and further to laser devices becoming one of the main components of the majority of dermatology practices today. Let’s explore this more deeply.
