What Is a Real N*gga? Featuring Special Guest Capri

What Is a Real N*gga? Featuring Special Guest Capri

In black culture their is the widely known fact that we have turned the word “nigga” into our own term of endearment. It can have many meanings some of which wouldn’t be categorized as endearing at all. Many of the ways we use the word involve compounding it with other words to create totally new terms and labels, such as “Bitch Ass Nigga” or “Fake Ass Nigga”. However, while not confirmed there is probably no compound of “Nigga” more widely used than “Real Nigga”.

You can ask 100 black people what it means to be a Real Nigga and you may get 100 different descriptions. Although they may all include some form of being true to one’s self, I believe this term is truly defined by one’s own view of what it means to be “real” in general which is why it means different things to different people. The urban dictionary defines a real nigga as this:

A real nigga is a nigga that is bout what he is bout and isn't afraid to speak up for himself no matter what he faces. Real niggas don't need to call themselves real niggas if they know that they are truly real. Real n****s are there for there n****s no matter the situation they wont bail out like a bitch or give a pussy ass excuses not to be there. Real niggas are about there business and rep what they rep. Real n****s are true and tell it how they see it and don't sugar coat shit.

Frankly I think this bullshit definition is a big part of the reason this is a valid discussion. I want to answer a multitude of questions about this subject, including but not limited to:

Does a real nigga have to be a nigga in the first place? Is a real nigga an inherently negative term because it involves the word nigga?
Should a real nigga be defined by certain street activities or is it much broader than that?
What or who do you think of when you think of a real nigga?
If we can’t agree on what real nigga qualities are, can we agree on what aren’t?
We seem to always say real niggas are hard to find, why is that?
Specifically for our female guest, what are your feelings about real n****s? What does the word mean to you in the sense of fatherhood, relationships and or dating?

Join us for this discussion and an opportunity to learn.

Does Your Vote Really Matter In America? Featuring Special Guest Cortez Fant

Does Your Vote Really Matter In America? Featuring Special Guest Cortez Fant

With our Presidential Election days away there is an obvious push to vote sweeping the country. From NBA basketball courts, to commercials and social media, voting imagery is everywhere we look. The question that we want to ask however is what is the motive? Why aren't we constantly made aware of our right to vote when there's a Democrat incumbent? Does this mean that the effort to raise awareness is more about defeating President Trump or a good faith campaign to make sure Americans exercise their rights? Listen as we attempt to explore, if not answer these questions and more with special guest, political scientist Cortez Fant.
