This is part 2 (so make sure you start with part 1 first!) of a recent talk I gave on "how to forgive when they don't say sorry." It's about navigating your inner thoughts and choosing the memories and people you give your energy and power to in your mind. And how to  allow whatever feelings of grief/pain/anger so you can really feel those feelings to actually process them and move forward into compassion and forgiveness for yourself first.

This is not a podcast episode about "choosing forgiveness" or forcing yourself to forgive. Yes, mindfully choose healing. Yes, consciously choose good thoughts. But I don't believe we can force forgiveness—especially when it comes to church trauma. There is so much wrapped up in our relationships with church leaders, peer "disciplers," and how that all relates to our walks with God.

It's not always so easy. It's not necessarily a straight shot.

Talking about the power of our thoughts it one of my favorite topics, and as someone who's dealt with depression and anxiety for most of my life, it's a huge piece of how I stay on top of my mental health. Thought-work is part of what I call "mental hygiene" or "preventative mental healthcare."
