Hallo everybody and welcome to my brand new podcast.
Music to live with Shanti is me, Shanti a Swiss musicologist and stage manager, talking with different artists and discussing different topics belonging to the music business.
Who are those persons who chose art as a profession and what can we learn from their professional and personal experiences.

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 16 - Cassiano Toma - Drummer and Singer (CH)

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 16 - Cassiano Toma - Drummer and Singer (CH)

I really like having the opportunity to sit down with a good friend and talk about music: in this episode Cassiano, aka Cassi, discusses with me the influence that Nu-Metal and bands like Korn and Linkin Park had on our adolescence. We also reminisce about old memories of going to concerts together and his experience as a singer in a beat down band.

Song in the end: “Vivo mentre scrivo” by Xunah from the EP "Doom Rap" .

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 15 - Logan Miano - Rhythm Of Fear (US)

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 15 - Logan Miano - Rhythm Of Fear (US)

I'm not a big fan of social media but it has allowed me to connect with a lot of people with the same interests as me. That's how I met Logan - on Instagram. In this episode I talk to him about what it's like to grow up as a musician in America, living in Florida and playing drums in a trash metal band. His energy is overwhelming and I really enjoyed our discussion. I hope to meet him here in Switzerland, a country he visited while on tour.

Song in the end: “Slithering Madness” by Rhythm Of Fear from the EP "Ritual Dementia" .

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 14 - Derek Ski - XrepresentX (US)

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 14 - Derek Ski - XrepresentX (US)

In several episodes of my podcast I have mentioned the Straight Edge and shared ideas and opinions with people who also hold this music-related philosophy of life dear. For some time now I've felt the need to clarify the topic and introduce it to the artistic and musical community not directly connected to the world of hardcore punk and metal. I could only have a better guest than Derek Ski, lead singer of the band XrepresentX - a band that bases its existence on SxE.
We also discuss his experience in Europe and which led him to become a German teacher in Pennsylvania. His passion for music has led him to meet new friends in a country foreign to him.

Song in the end: “What you deserve” by XrepresentX.

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 13 - Eric Dillon - Zombie Apocalypse / Shai Hulud (US)

I love Frank Herbert's book Dune - and I love the metalcore band Shai Hulud just as much. This led me to meet the band Zombie Apocalypse and eventually to have a chat with Eric Dillon.  Once again, music leads me to combine different interests and meet incredible people.
With Eric I have the pleasure to discuss about his musical projects, his experience in the music business and how come Zombie Apocalypse's album "life without pain is a fucking fantasy" has such a sweet and curious cover.

Song in the end: "We still might be dying",by Zombie Apocalypse, Prod. Innerstrenght Records.

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 12 - Sebastian Hayn - Clarinet (IT)

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 12 - Sebastian Hayn - Clarinet (IT)

I dedicate this episode to Kim. It was a pleasure to have met you, we will see each other again on the other side.

I met Sebastian while working at the Opernhaus Zurich: it was audition time and we just started talking. Keeping in touch with the people we meet in our private or professional lives leads to wonderful experiences like this.
Together we decided to talk about what kind of approach Sebastian chose to record his first album. How he found himself abroad and how important it is to create an artistic personality. If you visit his website you will find two very interesting projects: "Let's get ready" and the "Bacco Software". Sebastian also tells us about his musician friends, the British band Will and te people and his experience with the Italian festival Hempiness Music Festival.

Song in the end: "Con Brio", played by Sebastian Hayn (Clarinet) and Florian Podgoreanu (Piano) from the Album "Anno 1926".

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 11 - Fabian Ziegler - Percussionist (CH)

Music To Live For With Shanti - EP. 11 - Fabian Ziegler - Percussionist (CH)

For those who don't know, I play the drums: I always wanted to play loud and percussion has always fascinated me.
Meeting Fabian at the Davos Festival was an experience that led me to discover this interest and passion for those instruments. To make rhythm and communicate. With the body and instruments -  you don't just ear the percussion, you feel it.
This is because I consider Fabian to be a modern-day poet who expresses himself on stage in such an engaging way and also knows how to involve his fellow musicians and the audience.
On 19.3.2021 he released his first album - a very interesting work that deserves more than a listen.
It was really nice to be able to record this episode and I'm curious to see what he will bring us in the future.

Song in the end: "Atlantas", composed by John Psathas (2020)  played by Fabian Ziegler  (Vibraphon) Akvilė Šileikaitė (piano).
