The Professional Wellness Session with Constance podcast offers a space for professionals to reflect on how life events may impact one's ability to be professionally well in their chosen career. An area of specific interest is individuals maintaining professional wellness while advocating for social justice and working in fields that can be emotionally taxing. The host is Constance Wallace, a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC), licensed professional counselor (LPC), and professional wellness coach.

    Maintaining wellness after marriage and fatherhood

    During this week's Professional Wellness session with Constance, host Constance Wallace, LCMHC, LPC, and Professional Wellness Coach, has a conversation with Titus Nichols. Titus is the owner of Nichols Injury Law, a personal injury firm that represents people who have been severely injured due to the negligence of others. Prior to opening his own law firm, he served as a violent crimes prosecutor. In addition to being a civilian lawyer, Titus also is a Major in the United States Army where he serves as a Judge Advocate General. As a JAG, Titus has represented Soldiers and advised Commanders in various forms of hearings and government investigations. For the past 4 years, he has had the privilege of being an Adjunct Professor for the University of Georgia School of Law. Titus has been on TV dozens of times as a legal expert. His most recent appearance was on the Oxygen Network series, "Real Murders of Atlanta". He has also served as a political commentator on various news outlets including Fox News, The Atlantic, Salon, Vice News and Crooked Media. He is a graduate of Morehouse College and the University of Georgia School of Law.     Maintaining wellness as a Doula and Psychologist

    During this week's Professional Wellness session with Constance, host Constance Wallace, LCMHC, LPC, and Professional Wellness Coach, has a conversation with Dr. Sayida Peprah-Wilson, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Doula. Dr. Sayida is the Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit organization Diversity Uplifts, Inc. focused on improving the well-being of women, birthing people, children and families by supporting marginalized and minority communities, while increasing cultural competence and humility among providers who serve them. Dr. Sayida specializes in multicultural psychology, trauma, suicide prevention and maternal mental health. Dr. Sayida has had a multifaceted career as a psychologist having worked in community-based, in-home, psychiatric hospital, prison and private practice settings. She is also a trainer and consultant on topics of cultural humility, implicit bias and trauma as they impact mental and maternal health.   Dr. Sayida’s work in maternal health includes serving as a co-director and trainer for the Frontline Doulas and the Sankofa Birthworkers Collective in Southern California. An advocate for human rights in childbirth, Dr. Sayida is a member of the Black Women Birthing Justice Collective and a Movement Partner with the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, promoting research, education and community-based services to positively transform the birthing experiences of black families.  Dr. Sayida has served and continues to serve on advisory committees to improve maternal health including the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (Maternal Suicide Review Committee 2018-2019 & SoCal Maternal Mortality Review Committee 2020- Present), Perinatal Equity Initiative Committees of San Bernardino and Riverside County 2019- Present, and others aimed at identifying key risks and opportunities for quality improvement and prevention around disparities.     Maintaining Wellness as a Mental Health Clinician

    During this week's Professional Wellness session with Constance, host Constance Wallace, LCMHC, LPC, and Professional Wellness Coach, has a conversation with Lauren Gaspar, MSW, LCSW-S, RPT, EMDR Certified. Lauren is the owner of Good Mourning Counseling Center and specializes in traumatic loss.  Lauren holds a Masters degree in Social Work from Boston University. She is a Registered Play Therapist, a board approved supervisor, and is certified in EMDR. Additionally, she serves as an expert witness in court cases of domestic violence and sexual assault/abuse. She has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 2001 and is also a member of the Association for Play Therapy.
