In cooperation with the Diocese of Nashville's Office of Faith Formation and Catechesis, Gabriel Heidbreder and Rachael Gieger believe that a renewal of devotion to the saints can be cause for great encouragement during the difficulties we encounter in our journies of faith. The saints accompany all of us as we embrace our crosses in life; they encourage us to lean into Jesus when our burden is especially heavy, and show us how to bear our burdens for the love of Him.Each saint canonized by the Church bore immense struggles in their lives. They heroically rose to those occasions through the power of God's grace and are now witnesses to us of His power and love. They are not dead and gone but are alive in Christ! When the struggle is on, when temptations and sufferings abound, the saints remind us we are never alone! That we are, rather, In Good Company!

"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord" - Mary Mother of God

"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord" - Mary Mother of God

Welcome to In Good Company - a podcast hosted by the Office of Faith Formation in the Diocese of Nashville Tennessee!

Who had the greatest vocation of any Christian? It wasn't the smartest doctor of the Church, the bloodiest martyr, or even the sweetest nun. The person who had the greatest calling from God was Mary of Nazareth, the mother of Jesus. A young Jewish girl was called by God the Father to bring His beloved Son into the world. On behalf of all humanity, Mary RSVP'd to God's invitation to redemption through a total, humble, and free "yes" to His will. God began His mission of redemption in the womb of this young girl; there couldn't be a more important mission given to a Christian!

In this episode, Gabriel and Rachael sit down to discuss the Catholic perspective on Mary. They explain why Catholics give Mary titles, and Rachael shares her favorite title of Mary with a really compelling story!

Interview with Tylor Starkey: A Convert's Journey with the Saints

Welcome to In Good Company - a podcast hosted by the Office of Faith Formation in the Diocese of Nashville Tennessee!

Tylor Starkey, a seminarian for the Diocese of Nashville, sits down with Rachael and Gabriel to unpack his journey into the Catholic faith. Oftentimes, the Catholic understanding of saints can be a tough doctrine to agree with for converts coming into the Church. However, in Tylor's journey with St. James, he invites us to see that traveling through this life with Christ necessarily means doing so alongside Jesus's closest friends. For the saints of God always show us that it is Jesus who is the Way.

Saints of Charity - St. Maximilian Kolbe

Welcome to In Good Company - a podcast hosted by the Office of Faith Formation in the Diocese of Nashville Tennessee!

Was there freedom in the Nazi concentration camps of World War II? Crushing labor, inhuman living conditions, lack of food and water, all the while the threat of instant execution hanging over your head. How could there possibly be any semblance of freedom behind these barbed-wire fences? In this episode, Gabriel and Rachael unpack the life of one heroic man who demonstrated ultimate freedom amidst these horrendous conditions. The only real exercise of freedom open to every person, of every time, and of every place is the freedom to choose love. This radical freedom is only possible through the power of Christ and His Cross, the source of all true love.

Or maybe you've had a lively debate with a friend who doesn't believe Christians should speak to the saints, after all, why not just go "straight to Jesus"?  In this episode, Gabriel and Rachael discuss how all the saints of God are measured by their lives of heroic virtue, especially that of heroic love. As friends of God, they not only inspire us to "fight the good fight," but they intercede on our behalf before the throne of the Lamb reminding us that we are never alone, we are In Good Company.
