Too often, there is much discussion about Africa and its exploding music industry, with the exception of North Africa. The 142nd episode of The Africa Music Law Show begins to put a stop to that with its first-ever AML Middle East/North Africa Music Business Roundtable. Hosted by Ms. Uduak, producer of the show, and along with guests Ahmed Soultan, Hicham El Kebbaj, and Karima Damir, the roundtable demystifies North Africa, explains its music business, challenges, growth, and opportunities for collaborations to help move the entire African music industry and continent forward. The panelists also discuss what ‘Afrobian music’ means, which is a term coined by Ahmed Soultan. It is a must listen and must share.

AHMED SOULTAN is an Afrobian multi-award winning artist. He is also a four-time MTV EMA ‘Worldwide Act’, and three-time AFRIMA ‘Best African Album’ recipient.

HICHAM EL KEBBAJ is a veteran music event producer known for his role in helping to produce popular music events in the MENA region like Festival de Casablanca, Gnawa Festival of Essaouira, and Festival Boulevard. He is also a respected talent manager with connections across the continent and currently represents some of North Africa’s top acts including Maalem Hamid El Kasri, Mehdi Nassouli, and Hindi Zahra.

KARIMA DAMIR is currently the A&R director and marketing executive at Sony Music Entertainment Middle East. Prior to joining Sony, she was an A&R and PR consultant for MBC & Rotana groups, some of the largest media companies in the Middle East. Prior to MBC and Rotana, Karima worked as a talent and music manager for MTV Middle East, Viacom International Networks, Dubai.

Uduak Oduok, (Host) founder of Africa Music Law, is a Partner and Co-Founder of Ebitu Law Group, P.C. where she handles her firm’s intellectual property law, media, business, fashion, and entertainment law practice areas. For almost two decades, as an attorney, she has litigated a wide variety of cases in California courts. She has also handled a variety of entertainment deals for clients in the USA, Africa and Asia including network television and licensing deals. Her work and contributions to the creative industry have been recognized by numerous organizations including the National Bar Association and featured in prestigious legal publications in the USA: ABA Journal and The California Lawyer Magazine.
