1.深呼吸Have you ever admired those people who do the voice–over on radio and TV? Do you think they have a special voice? Maybe you can do it too, and each person’s voice is special enough, though not everyone’s voice is “deep”. After some training, you can speak just like a professional, here’s how:Before we kick start, let’s try to relax your body, take it easy, as your voice will not listen to you if you are nervous. We take a deep breath today! Try taking many deep breath before you read anything, so you will be more confident, and you can speak with your “belly”, instead of your “throat”. Did you just take a deep breath? OK, let’s do it together—breathe in,…and breathe out. Do it again and look at your shoulders, did they move while breathing in? See? that’s the problem, please DO NOT raise your shoulders when taking a deep breath! The key to this warm-up practice is no-moving your shoulders when breathing. So basically your body doesn’t move when you breathe, and it’s better you take at least 5 times of deep breath everyday from now on. After 5 and more deep breath, let’s read the following:A---I’m afraid you made a mistake. B---Before you buy the bee, beat Bill. C---Cindy says she doesn’t see the sea. D---Diligence is the mother of good luck. E----Eat to live, but not live to eat. F—Find the left for Phil.Did you feel better after reading and deep breathing? if not, don’t worry, I’m sure you will if you follow our training and voice –over tips. frank低音06-糟糕的交通

介绍: 你是否感觉每天的城市高峰时间让你出门越来越困难?交通拥挤让全世界头疼,神马方法能破?你有神马好的想法,一起来分享下吧。本文难度★★★☆☆ ☞ Words:congestion/jam交通堵塞, leisurely从容地 ,switch to 转变成,gym健身房 ,intersection十字路口, stack up 堆积起, productive momentum有成效的动力 ,percentage 百分比 ¤~~小伙伴们喜欢的话,欢迎点击“订阅”哦~~~~ Rush hour traffic is absolutely the worst. You’re tired before you go to work, tired after a long day, and don’t want to deal with bumper-to-bumper traffic and everyone driving like a nut. It’s enough to give you a horrible headache. While there’s certainly more congestion at these times of day, there are ways to avoid it.This is Frank Mars with Frank Mars Learning English,we are talking about rush hours today. Plan Out Your Morning and Leave Earlier☞ A good tip to avoid some of the traffic is to get an earlier start. Try out different times—leaving five minutes earlier, 15 minutes earlier—to see what might be better. In order to do this without losing any sleep, you need to plan out your morning. This means packing up your briefcase and setting your clothes out the night before. Rather than taking the time to eat a leisurely breakfast, pack it to go. Leaving Work I once had a job where they let me work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and I never had to deal with rush hour traffic. If your bosses are nice, consider switching to a work schedule that will let you leave earlier and, if that’s not the case, leave a little later. Leaving at 5:00 p.m. is going to guarantee the worst traffic because that’s when everyone leaves. You were going to relax when you got home, so just bring a book to work or pop in a TV show on your computer. Better yet, you could join a gym near work. Even leaving 15 minutes later could help. Change Your Route Some roads are just terrible, no matter what. Check E maps or ask a co-worker for alternate routes. After work, I used to take a major road home. The speed limit was high, but the traffic moved at a crawl, taking about 15 minutes to make a left turn through one intersection. Instead, I found an alternative route: the speed limit was much lower, but it had so little traffic that it ended up taking much less time, and was less stressful. If you do get stuck on a highway and there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of back road alternatives, consider changing where you get on the highway. The most congested parts tend to be at toll ways, so consider entering after one. Proper planning is key.Planning out your day (and your week and your month) can be a real help. If you take a few minutes early in the day to get a handle on what you need to do you can better manage your time and keep tasks from stacking up.Once you've done your planning, do yourself a favor and set aside some time to clear any small stuff off your plate. The things that tend to pile up at the end of days are usually smaller tasks, and there are usually quite a few of them. Knocking things out early on will help you build a productive momentum for your whole day. It's an unfortunate reality in nearly every major city—road congestion, especially during rush hours. Jonas Eliasson tells how slightly pushing just a small percentage of drivers to stay off major roads can make traffic jams a thing of the past.~~~Jonas’ voice~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The early bird gets the worm. The best way to avoid "rush hour" is to be sure you've finished everything early. Make sure you're getting an early start on all your tasks. I'm a huge fan of the quick start; it really does work. You don't even have to make significant progress on your tasks. Sometimes even the smallest effort at the beginning can make a ton of difference in the long run. Just remember, every little bit you can get done early is a bit you won't have to deal with during your "rush ho

介绍: ♋ 你哪来的不自信?要自信才能成功,相信自己!今天我们聊聊怎么建立自信,忘记紧张和自卑,释放你心中那颗神奇的小宇宙吧!本文难度★★★☆☆ ☞Words:achievement 成就;optimism 乐观;criticism 批评;personal appearance个人仪表,static measure 静态参数;compliment恭维√ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Confidence is not something that can be learned like a set of rules; confidence is a state of mind. Positive thinking, practice, training, knowledge and talking to other people are all useful ways to help improve or boost your confidence levels. This is Frank Mars with Frank Mars Learning English,we are talking about building confidence today. Confidence comes from feelings of well-being, acceptance of your body and mind (self-esteem) and belief in your own ability, skills and experience. Low-confidence can be a result of many factors including: fear of the unknown, criticism, being unhappy with personal appearance (self-esteem), feeling unprepared, poor time-management, lack of knowledge and previous failures. Confidence is not a static measure, our confidence to perform roles and tasks can increase and decrease; some days we may feel more confident than others.People often feel less confident about new or potentially difficult situations. Perhaps the most important factor in developing confidence is planning and preparing for the unknown. If you are applying for a new job for example, you would be wise to prepare for the interview. Plan what you would want to say in the interview and think about some of the questions that you may be asked. Practise your answers with friends or colleagues and gain their feedback. Helen Keller - Author, political activist, and lecturer. The first deaf and blind person to earn a BA degree in the US,said: “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence”.The basic rules of positive thinking are to highlight your strengths and successes and learn from your weaknesses and mistakes. This is a lot easier than it sounds, we often dwell on things that we are not happy with from our past - making them into bigger issues than they need to be. These negative thoughts can be very damaging to confidence and your ability to achieve goals.~Jessica Harlow tells about How To Boost Your Confidence~~~~~(Jessica’s voice)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Speaking to and being around people who are confident will usually help you to feel more confident. Learn from others who are successful in fulfilling the tasks and goals that you wish to achieve - let their confidence rub off on you. As you become more confident then offer help and advice, become a role-model for somebody less confident. Experience:As we successfully complete tasks and goals, our confidence that we can complete the same and similar tasks again increases. Be Assertive: Being assertive means standing up for what you believe in and sticking to your principles. Avoid Arrogance:Arrogance is harmful for interpersonal relationships. As your confidence grows and you become successful, avoid feeling or acting superior to others. Remember - nobody is perfect, there is always more that you can learn. Celebrate your strengths and successes and recognize your weaknesses and failures. Give others credit for their work - use compliments and praise sincerely. Admit to your mistakes and be prepared to laugh at yourself! Question today:How do you make yourself more confident? frank低音04-路怒怎么办

介绍: 本期提示:road rage(路怒)时而发生,威胁道路安全,前不久前四川被打女司机事件就是路怒的例子,如何控制自己脾气(temper)?听一下美国警察建议吧~---记得点击“订阅”哦,听取更多更新# road rage(路怒),tailgate:尾随,use/press the horn按喇叭 flash their headlights频繁闪烁远光灯, change lanes 改变车道 gesture to other drivers 给别的司机打手势,vent:发泄 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Road rage is a growing problem on our highways. Learning how to deal with road rage can help you sidestep the dangerous nightmare that often follows an aggressive road rage incident.Welcome to Frank Mars Learning English, I’m Frank Mars.We are talking about road rage today. Back off from aggressive drivers: You must realize that you can't control another driver's behavior, but you can control your own. When another driver cuts you off, how you react will determine what happens next. If you are able to back off, take a deep breath, and remain calm, then you can end a potentially violent situation.True, you might need to vent about the driver tailgating you all the way from town or the overly cautious driver who consistently drove under the speed limit. Venting your frustration is normal and healthy, so long as you vent appropriately. Talk to a friend or family member about the driving experience―telling the story can relieve your stress. Some driving clubs or online discussions offer members a chance to vent their frustration. Know your own driving style: What if you are the aggressive driver? Analyze your driving style and whether you are easy to road rage; then consider changing your own driving habits. Aggressive drivers usually: Tailgate , Use their horn,Flash their headlights , Change lanes quickly and often Gesture to other drivers, Talk on their cell phone Changing your driving habits is not easy. You'll need to practice and study safer driving habits. Consider signing up for a driver's education course or better yet, personalized training.Of course, the other extreme is the offender―the driver who offend other drivers by driving under the speed limit, skipping turn signals, slowing down early for exits, accelerating unevenly, and hogging lanes. If this sounds like you, maybe you've already been the victim of road rage. Avoid road rage situations driving near an aggressive driver; learn how with tips from Shaun Appler ,an American public safety and law enforcement expert:(expert’s voice)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you are the offender and have avoided a road rage confrontation, then congratulations. Regardless, now is the time to improve your own driving habits before you provoke a bad situation.Remember, you are sharing the road with other drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. It is only fair for you to recognize that people are going to work, school, or important appointments―and driving under the speed limit is inconsiderate. You can pull over and let others pass by. Why do some drivers get worked up during the daily commute? Some doctors believe there is a medical basis for road rage. Whether or not you believe in a medical basis for road rage, you still need to know how to deal with it. Uncertain situations can escalate unpredictably, and the best advice is to avoid confrontations altogether. If you tend to provoke other drivers or are on the aggressive side of road rage, put some effort into learning new driving habits.Question today:What do you think of road rage?Have you met any in person? frank低音03-迟到的借口

你上班迟到过吗?你的借口是什么?你是否是位守时的的银?来听听美国人的思维---记得点击“订阅”哦,听取更多更新# Punctuality n.守时;go to great lengths to do: 竭尽全力;precedence n. 优先;居先 Americans place a high value on punctuality. If you make plans with someone, you should be there when you say you will. Three to five minutes early is even better, because it shows that you are really looking forward to spending time with the other person. Welcome to Frank Mars Learning English, I’m Frank Mars.We are talking about being late today. Most people will allow five or maybe ten minutes late, but more than that is considered bad form. Not showing up at all--called "standing someone up"--is considered very rude and, unless you have a very good reason, the other person may never want to make plans with you again. In American culture, the commitment to spend time with someone is more important than anything else that might happen. Americans go to great lengths to keep their commitments. Even if their mother called them on the phone, they would say, "Oh, Mom, I can only talk a few minutes, because I'm meeting a friend for lunch. Can I call you back when I get home?" Their mother would not take offense at this, because their pre-existing plans take precedence over all others. Valid excuses for being late generally involve transportation problems, such as: being stuck in traffic, your car breaking down, unavoidably missing your bus or train, or not being able to get a cab. Being late because you didn't want to miss the end of a TV show or because another friend called you on the phone is not acceptable. If you realize you are going to be late, you should call the other person immediately, explain the situation, apologize, and ask if they would like to meet later or do something else another time. Dane Cook tells on being late for work at his stand-up show:(Dane’s voice)******************************* Not showing up for a date is considered the height of rudeness, so you better have a good reason for it. Valid reasons include: death or serious illness of a close family member, being in a car accident, being sick, or not having child care due to a situation you could not have foreseen . If you must miss a date, call the other person immediately, explain what happened, and apologize repeatedly. "I'm so sorry, I feel just awful about it, I hope you can forgive me, but here is what happened..." Is a good way to start this conversation. The rule to remember is: show up a few minutes early or on time. If you must be late, phone the other person at once and explain why. Do not be late repeatedly, and never stand someone up unless you absolutely cannot avoid it.Question today:Have you ever been late for work? What was your excuse?
