Is it just me or is time flying by? How do we make the most out of our short time here on Earth? That’s what we’re here to find out. I’m Justin Long and I’ve been an actor for most of my life, so I’m used to getting inside the heads of the characters I play. But now that I’m getting older (I’m in my forties, yikes), I want to peek inside the heads of real people to learn how they find meaning in life. I’m also very curious what their favorite snack food is, and what emoji they use most often — ya know, the REALLY important stuff. Every episode I’ll get personal with all kinds of people, from actors to musicians to deep thinkers who fascinate me. My brother Christian is on hand each episode to keep me honest, and occasionally remind me about some of the embarrassing things I’ve done over the years. Join us, or if you have more important things to do, that’s okay too — life is short!

Life Is Short(er): Galápagos, Getting Thicc, and Famous Bro 🧦
The guys discuss Justin’s surprise birthday trip to the Galápagos Islands — his lifelong bucket list destination — where he communed with giant tortoises (and had to hold back from touching them). Then, the guys read a letter from Dan Wolf that sparks a walk down memory lane with some Garbage Pail Kids and a couple thought-provoking Would You Rathers. Finally, a flattering voicemail from Brandon Allen in Utah asks about what it’s like to have a famous sibling.

Adam McKay 🏴
Adam McKay (Death On The Lot) and Justin talk about his long career of making hit comedies Anchorman and Step Brothers, his knack for turning complicated historical incidents into enthralling (and often hilarious) films/podcasts, and how he decided to cast Christian Bale as Dick Cheney and Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush in “Vice.”

Life Is Short(er): Happy Bday Justin, Arousal Vomit, and Dumpling Date 🦷
The guys talk about how a very young Justin wanted to keep his tooth AND the money left by the tooth fairy, why Justin thinks of Michael J Fox every year around his birthday and he plugs the documentary “Still” about Fox’s life and struggle with Parkinson’s. Christian discusses a Trader Joe’s chit chat conundrum. Then, an epic listener letter from Veronica in Hawaii gets Justin a little emotional, but she ends it with a fun WYR involving vomit and arousal. Finally, we hear a voicemail from Erica about her serendipitous run in with a soup dumpling on a first date.

Dr. Marisa Franco 🙂
Dr. Marisa Franco (Platonic: How the Science of Attachment Can Help You Make — and Keep — Friends) and Justin talk about the importance of developing and maintaining strong platonic friend connections, why our society seems to prioritize romantic relationships above others, and how our upbringing impacts the attachment styles we have as adults.

Life Is Short(er): Gay Dads, Ninja Turtles, and Movie Memories 🧜🏾♀️
Justin and Christian discuss both what they did over the previous weekend, and the latest news about The Weeknd (he's now going by his real name, Abel Tesfaye). Then the guys read a letter from a listener named Jenn who raves about “Happy Campers,” they discuss the tragic passing of talented actor Brad Renfro and answer a very emotional Would You Rather question. Finally, we hear a sweet voicemail from Sam about his love of the Muppets, and he asks what the first movie the guys remember seeing in the theater.

James Marsden 😂
James Marsden (Jury Duty, X-Men) and Justin talk about what it was like for James to play an egotistical version of himself in the show “Jury Duty,” how difficult it was to keep up the facade through the whole season, plus they discuss their shared love of improv and what it was like to be on the Anchorman set acting opposite Will Ferrell.
