    This Metsiness is Killing Me

    This Metsiness is Killing Me

Grace is back after a week off, but there’s not really much new. The Mets have only accumulated a handful of wins in the previous two weeks, and it’s not fun watching so many players we love struggle. She also discusses the retirement of Ángel Hernández and the season-ending injury of Ronald Acuña Jr.
Next, the Mets being terrible has made Grace consider what it means to be a fan of something. It’s kind of a bummer ot root for this team right now, but we still watch and put ourselves through this torture. Why is it so hard to quit this team, and the things we consider ourselves fans of in general?
Finally, a movie minute highlighting a new film that Grace not only loved on a base level but has renewed her love for the medium and made her see some of the way forward for the industry and the artform.

    Bad stuff about the Mets

    Bad stuff about the Mets

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin by discussing the Mets continuing to be bad in creative new ways every week. This week, it’s the bullpen that has imploded.
We also cover all of the various injury updates—both positive and negative—and try to find some silver linings in what is turning out to be a garbage fire season.
Next, we talk about Ronald Acuña’s devastating injury and Ángel Hernández’s retirement.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.

    Utility infielder chat

    Utility infielder chat

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system.
Thomas and Lukas are unchecked this week, so promote-extend-trade focused on the late 2000s video game debate between COD, Halo, and Gears of War. Once they get off their video game schtick, it’s a quick discussion of draft prospects and weekly team performances before we get to the promotion of Blade Tidwell, something we foresaw last week.
We finally get to the top performers of the week, including a BABIP-rampage from Luisangel Acuña and a really strong start from Felipe de la Cruz. Somehow, that devolves into a discussion of the utility infielder situation; we’d still love to see Luke Ritter get a sentimental cup of coffee at some point, and remain legitimately intrigued with the potential of Rylan Bannon. Also, Mark Vientos is almost certainly not this good, but has maybe made some improvements? We’ll see.

    The New York Lady Balls

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin by discussing the awful past week in Mets baseball, including Edwin Díaz seeming lost on the mound. We also talk about the latest roster moves, Steve Cohen’s tweets, and Kodai Senga’s latest setback.
Next, we try to make ourselves feel better by talking about other organizations who are even worse than the Mets, such as the Angels. We also talk about men continuing to be weird about women’s sports.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
