On June 16, 1944 (76 years ago, today) George Stinney Jr was executed for a crime he did not commit. At the age of 14, he became the youngest person to be executed in the United States. It took 4 minutes for the murder (I said it) to be completed. He was too small for the electric chair so he was forced to sit on top of the Bible that he was carrying to the chamber. A literal Bible booster seat. From the time of his arrest to the time of his death, he couldn’t stop asking “Why? Why would they kill me for something I didn’t do?” From start to finish, it was 83 days. His trial was only 3 hours long. The jury consisted of 10 men, all white. And it took these “men” (not in my world, a******s) a mere 10 minutes to find George “guilty, of all charges.” 𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒆: 𝑰'𝒎 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒖𝒑 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒚, 𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒅. **𝑬𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒕** Learn more about the countless innocent men & women incarcerated yearly, as well as what 𝒚𝒐𝒖 can do to help here: https://www.innocenceproject.org/.
