    EP195: Martin Stephenson

    EP195: Martin Stephenson

Today's fascinating episode of Electronically Yours features folk/rock/pop singer songwriter and frontman of The Daintees, Martin Stephenson.

A fellow northerner, Martin’s songwriting is nuanced and excellent, and is widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest.

The Daintees released their first highly-acclaimed single in 1982, and since then have remained prolific and very popular and still perform regularly. Fun fact – I’m quite fond of folk-influenced music, as is my fellow electronic buddy, Vince Clarke!

Ladies and gentlemen – meet your kinda people, my kinda folk – Martin Stephenson...

Championing the impact of youth on modern society, the Museum of Youth Culture is formed from the archives of YOUTH CLUB, a non-profit Heritage Lottery & Arts Council Funded collection incorporating photographs, ephemera, objects and oral histories celebrating our shared youth culture history.

From the bomb-site Bicycle racers in post-war 1940s London, to the Acid House ravers of 1980s Northern England, the Museum of Youth Culture empowers the extraordinary everyday stories of growing up in Britain.

Ladies and gentlemen – meet Jon Swinstead...

They pioneered the use of sampling technology, and in particular manipulating samples from mainstream pop, rock, R&B and soul songs, using the samples in a new creative context.  The band wrote, produced and mixed all of their own music.
