Episode 6: Steve Murphy Head of Bluefin Tuna UK
Steve came in this week to discuss the return of the bluefin Tuna to our waters. We covered a lot in just over an hour- the global changes driving their return, availability of their food, where the UK stands to get get a quota this year and of course- what its actually like to catch one!
Fascinating hour from Steve, well worth a listen and in time as anglers they will need our support to put pressure on the govt to get a recreational fishery so we can all enjoy fishing for 800lb fish just 5 miles off shore !!! -
Episode 5- Team GB angler Jon Patten (Sorry for the sound quality this week)
Had a great time with Jon this week. We talked about the challenges of the UK sea fishing scene and the over fishing by mega trawlers- but also the positives of the re-emergence of the Blue fin Tuna.
We also got into his time fishing for team GB and squeezed in a dive into his instagram to recall stories of goliath groupers, tiger sharks and world records.
Inspirational stuff from Jon- you should check out his Instagram!!! -
