Audio confessions of Van Liew, these stories are vivid visuals that I see right now, that I have experienced in life in the present and the past. I am from Jersey City, NJ, I grew up in the inner city on Belmont avenue and Bergen. I grew up in a loving family, raised by my mother, my grandmother, my grandfather and my brothers. I moved from Jersey City at a young age to reside in Maryland for a few years. For a long time, I was mad and angry at my mother for leaving me and my oldest brother Keith with my grandmother for a short period. I never knew why she left until later on in life. She left because she was fighting to get off of drugs. I always looked at my mom as a go-getter. She always had money on her, she always dressed well. She always had new things, pocketbooks full of money, a very beautiful stylist. I thank my oldest brother for always being there for me. I love him more then he could ever imagine. If he ever needed anything I would give it to him, he was there for me when I didn't have sneakers or clothes, he would let me wear his to school. He taught me how to play sports, he taught me things that my father never taught me. Not to make my father anything less of a man because we moved to Maryland. Listen to the full recording for more.
