84: Stealth Strike, The Future of the Force, & Legacy (Rebels 24 - 26)

Folks, we did it. After a middling pair of episodes last time and with what looked like a connected pair of stories coming up, we decided to call an audible and increase our episode count to three!
So, today, join us on a journey across the galaxy: First into an experimental imperial weapon with its origin in the EU glory days of old, then on a planetary hunt for force-sensitive babies, and finally a return to Lothal where a troubled Ezra Bridger finally gets some answers about his family.

83: Wings of the Master and Blood Sisters (Rebels 22 - 23)

After Season 2's strong start, the crew of the Ghost is finally settling into a lower key rhythm, which has both ups and its down. On the plus side this week, we get a loving look at the B-Wing (an all time great Star Wars ship design) and some more Sabine and Hera backstory! On the other... well, that backstory ain't all that great, and we're really feeling to limits of these one-off episodes.

82: Always Two There Are and Brothers of the Broken Horn (Rebels 20 - 21)

This is a week for introductions and reunions. First, Rebels offers us our first real look at the Inquisitors left behind by the now fallen Grand Inquisitor. Then, as Ezra begins to doubt his place in the burgeoning rebellion, he stumbles into an old acquaintance of ours. Yes... he's back. Yes. Him. Hondo Ohnaka. And wouldn't you know it? He just happens to be looking for a new crew member,

After months spent bouncing around the galaxy of the Old Republic, we are finally back to the wonders of the... lemme just check my notes... the era of the Empire! That's right, folks, the Emperor, Governor Tarkin, and Darth Vader are at it again, expanding their control over the galaxy and squeezing out any attempt at resistance. And you know what? It's good to be back.

79: The Nameless World and the Star Forge (Knights of the Old Republic 10)

79: The Nameless World and the Star Forge (Knights of the Old Republic 10)

In only ten episodes, we've traveled from the comfortable military quarters of the Ender Spire to the viewing platform of an ancient alien species' life-devouring shipyard. Finally, it's time to face our destinies: Some of us must overcome the sudden separation from our companions and the limits of our support-focused character builds. Others must commit to doing absolutely cartoonishly evil things to our erstwhile allies.  But all of us have to dig deep... deep into our inventories, and finally use all those mines and grenades that we've been hoovering up over the last 30 hours.
Thanks for joining us during this wonderful diversion into the time of the Old Republic! If you've enjoyed this season, consider supporting the show on Patreon. And make sure to get your questions for our KOTOR Q&A episode ASAP: Send them to amorecivilizedage at gmail dot com!

Great political analysis

I had been searching for a good star wars podcast, that doesn’t just revolve around stroking every single release of the star wars saga. I am happy to have found one, that surpasses my expectations on that front.

I started to watch things more carefully regarding their messaging thanks to this podcast. As a kid I was never aware of the underlying problems that should have been obvious from the start about the writing in Dave filloni’s stories and themes he incorporates. As I was to young to really get the parallels between the show (and movies) and real life wars and behaviours of politicians.

I have been a huge fan of your “autumn of andor” ,as it is for me one of the best series I have ever seen, and gave you time to explore the series in depth on a level that was simply astonishing. I have consumed many “deep dives” on the series but non was so comprehensive as the ones exhibited here. It seems to be the only place where you can get a four hour break down of the separate story arcs the writing regarding those (and their political inspirations in the real world).

The clone wars was to me one of the most beloved shows that I had seen in my youth. I was incredibly excited when I saw the announcement for the renewal of the series and would always say that it was definitely worth it, but thanks to you guys i was able to take of the rose tinted glasses and look at it from a more nuanced perspective. The seasons four and five were not as good as I seem to remember them and it was honestly very fun to listen to you sum up all the ways that some of the less strong episodes of the series. Others would probably say “well these episodes are not that good, so lets talk about these episodes less and focus on the good ones”. But it seems to me that you welcome it almost more to talk about those ones and shine a light on all the ways that they are f-ed up.

I find all your voices to be quite pleasant to listen to and love the small snorts and laughs that are so prevalent when one of you talks themselves into a “rage”. So listening to you for 4 hours doesn’t seem like a chore at anytime but a treat.

Hope you continue with this show and will continue being such interesting and funny and insightful people.

Great Podcast

Tuned in to this podcast because of Andor, and it makes me want to watch clone wars just to listen to the teams‘ super witty and thoughtful tv criticism and deep knowledge of Star Wars lore.
