Well, that's it! We're out of here. And we're leaving you with one last episode that unfortunately has the worst sound quality since like episode 5. Hopefully it's still listenable and you enjoy hearing me and Zac say goodbye.
Huge immense thankyous to all our listeners, friends, supporters, patreons, snackerpals, well-wishers and onlookers, and especially to the people who sent in potlucks for our final episode.
    This week we're serving up...
    NOTHING.
And you'll have to listen to the end for our last ever Pupdate.
Please don't sign up to our patreon!
Please don't follow us on social media!
Please don't tell your friends about us!
You can read transcripts at www.auspolsnackpod.com but you probably shouldn't do that either.

    150 - After Dinner Mints

We're very sad to announce that Auspol Snackpod is coming to an end. We've got a regular news episode for you this week, then next week will be some kind of special finale episode. It's your LAST CHANCE to send us potlucks about news, politics, or memes, or really anything and we'd really love to hear from you so PLEASE record yourself speaking for a minute and send it to us at contact@auspolsnackpod.com.
We also have another bonus episode to do and our plan is to answer EVERY SINGLE QUESTION OR REQUEST all in one bonus episode so please suggest topics! Even if you're a $1 patron, this is a liquidation sale, EVERY TOPIC MUST GO!
We have a couple more episodes in the works, and some schemes for the future, but this is the end of Snackpod as a weekly news / current affairs-ish sort of show. It's been our absolute pleasure and honour to make the show for you all and we can't thank you enough for tuning in every week and supporting us with your time and haha reaccs.
Well, we still have this episode for news, politics, and memes, so this week we're serving up...
Positivity Corner: SEQUR, a staunch QLD renters union, block the eviction of a disability pensioner.
Election Section: Unfortunately Clive's huge spend technically got a result as Rrrrrrrralph Babet has been elected UAP senator for Victoria (sorry). Lambie also got a new senator, Tammy Tyrrell (not to be confused with Tammi Terrell).
Fashy Australia: Labor is going ahead with Liberal debt recovery plans to punish people on welfare. Also a change in how mutual obligations work.
First Nations: Seven artefacts have been returned from the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection to the Walpiri people. Now do it for the 2200 other items.
Climate Cookies: Sam sent us another awesome potluck about offset mechanisms and useless "limits" on emissions.
ACAB: NSW govt and police are targeting Blockade Australia activists in pretty horrible ways. You can support them here: https://chuffed.org/project/blockade-australia-support-fundraiser
Potluck: Josh tells us about libraries (and a way to contain the evil power emanating from this piece of Gina Rinehart's soul)
    SPOTW: The future is now
Business: Don't follow us, that's silly. Just send us your bonus episode suggestions and your final potlucks!
And you'll just have to wait til the end for our Penultimate Pupdate!

    This week we're serving up...
SPOTW: Bevaning is at dangerously high levels after the SMH outed Rebel Wilson. The good news is this new data allows us to develop a clearer understand of Bevandynamics.
Kook Watch/First Nations: Travis brings us a new concept for the segment - how can we PROVE BEYOND DOUBT that the Uluru Statement from the Heart is part of Craig Kelly's nefarious plans?
Blurst Take: *looks at watch* Oh is it transphobia in the Victorian Greens time already? Zac takes us through what's been going on with the elections for Convenor.
Positivity Corner: Minimum wage rise babbyyyyyyyy. It's still bad! Haha, economics.
Election Section: Hanson got back in. Abetz got the boot. We all voted for Kodos. Plus a rant from Travis about democracy.
UFU: *looks at watch* oh is it capitalism destroying essential services time already? The Energy Market is a complex and evil (and expensive) machine. But don't worry, no billionaires will be harmed as a result.
Mains: Travis needs help with casting a film. Noon scrolls through IMDB pretending to be able to recognise faces.
And you'll just have to listen to the end for our Pupdate! and a cuckdate from Travis.

First Nations: Tasmania is raising the minimum age of children in detention from 10 to 14. And in the NT Karrinjarla Mwajarri is a campaign to disarm the police and get guns out of Indigenous communities. 147 - BONUS UNLOCKED: Conspiracy Iceberg Lettuce

147 - BONUS UNLOCKED: Conspiracy Iceberg Lettuce

Zac's been taken to a black ops site on a small island, so we're releasing last month's bonus episode this week! It's a fun, loose and long one today because we dived as deep as we could into some whacky (or are they??) Australian conspiracy theories.
As the basis of our research we used @John_Macgowan's "definitive Australian conspiracy theory iceberg" which you can see in high(er) res here: https://mobile.twitter.com/john_macgowan/status/1333922659185303553
The ones we ended up going into were: RAAF Min Min Lights Investigation, Tamam Shud, Bjelke-Petersen Death Camps, pre-colonisation viking settlements, and Lightning Ridge vril mining. If you want to send us bonus potlucks about any of the ones we didn't cover we would absolutely love that. Try to make it as a) brief and b) ranty as possible. Preferably you should be pointing emphatically at diagrams that can't be seen by the listener.

enseuser ,

I've never been to Australia. Why am I listening to this

So, I'm from Germany, I've lived in Ireland and I've visited Aotearoa/NZ (close enough), but I've never been to Australia and I think might never go there. But there are several reasons why this has become one of my favourite podcasts.

The way the podcast starts off each episode, with an acknowledgement and a constant reminder of the history and ongoing effect of settler colonialism, is so important and yet very rare in politics or media. But it's more than just paying lip service to an idea. The two hosts manage to effortlessly convey and reassert their commitment to include and platform indigenous and other subaltern perspectives, offering a nuanced and critical left humanist perspective on politics that is rare and yet relatable.

Needless to say, listening to the podcast is a lot of fun, even if it's not always funny (and it doesn't try to be). Thanks for keeping up the good fight! And solidarity from the other side of this weird planet.
