    Specialist Accreditation in Family Law

    Specialist Accreditation in Family Law

In Episode 11, Gillian and Tim are celebrating Tim's recent achievement, becoming an Accredited Specialist in Family Law. Gill has been an Accredited Specialist since 2013 and now that Tim has achieved specialist accreditation, they sit down to discuss the requirements and assessments that solicitors undertake when sitting for accreditation. They unveil a behind the scenes look at the process, what it means, and what a solicitor has to demonstrate and achieve to receive this accolade.

    About Specialist Accreditation

Specialist Accreditation is a structured peer to peer assessment process enabling legal practitioners to be recognised for their expertise. Each year the Law Society runs the accreditation program for a select number of areas of law. The program consists of meticulous assessments on both legal knowledge and its application in practice. For accreditation to be conferred the candidate must pass all assessments.

To retain their accreditation specialists must demonstrate their commitment to their accreditation through their work and by undertaking additional professional development in their area of accreditation.

Specialist Accreditation is held by less than 5% of the profession in New South Wales.
