Movie nerds Chuck Conyers and José Joel Zulueta LOOOOOVE to talk about movies and the people who make them. The Cinepod Moviecast is a series of discussions about films that are new to one or both of them. From current to classics, from the mainstream to the obscure, it's a fun and nerdtastic deep-dive!
Better late than never. Recorded back in 2018, Mr. Zulueta and I discuss the Oscar-winning Spike Lee joint “Blackkklansman.” I saw this film in the theater, and was not only late in reviewing this movie, but we’re also late in releasing our chat about it! However, in the year 2020 this movie is just as meaningful and as impactful as it was when it was made, and as relevant as the time of the original story. Power to the people! — Chuck

Star Trek Beyond V. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Captain's Log, Stardate 8.2020-- in this first episode since the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine began, we are back to discuss a couple of treks to the stars. We take a look at the latest of the Star Trek reboots, "Star Trek Beyond," as well as the original 40+ year-old "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." Are these bold additions to the Star Trek cannon? Or do these feel more like a hangover after a bit too much Romulan Ale? Mr. Zulueta go where plenty of others have been before, but...you know...with more flare! -- Chuck
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimension
Grab on to your Overthrusters! In the latest episode of Cinepod Moviecast, I introduce José to the wonderful world(s) of Buckaroo Banzai. Prior to this, Mr. Zulueta had never seen it, whereas I grew up watching it-- having seen it more times than I can count. It's a fun, nerdtastic deep dive with music and clips to delight your ear holes. No matter where you go, there you are-- so be there with this, Monkey Boys & Girls! -- Chuck
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
42 years after A New Hope, we have reached the end of the Skywalker Saga! There's a lot riding on the success or failure of this one film. Was it everything fans had wanted? Or was it yet another disappointing entry into the Star Wars cannon? Does it rise to the occasion? Or does it sink under the weight of its hype? Mr. Zulueta and I lay our childhoods on the line with our analysis of the 9th and final Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
