Starting the Day: A Gratitude Practice

Starting the Day: A Gratitude Practice

Waking up on the wrong side of the bed becomes an everyday side of the bed or “don’t talk to me before I’ve had my coffee” turns into just don’t talk to me. This practice is so simple I was surprised when I realized how much it improved my overall mood from the moment I wake-up. Revised from so many great teachers - mines more of a lazy version after waiting to put it in a journal - avoids writing them down by waking up to them. Give it a try and see how it effects your mood and perspective as you greet each new day. You can visit my posts on social media to comment, share, and encourage others as we all traverse our paths with more energy, better insight, and a more joyful outlook. Thank you for listening. Cheers!

Getting Caught... In the Tendrils of Experience

Getting Caught... In the Tendrils of Experience

After falling off and into confusion on how best to proceed in this years creativity as business endeavors, I got real focused on the most important steps and painted. Painting came out on top for immediate and long term forefront to of focus. Paint first, everything else comes after. The deep dive produced some good results and also some new clarity around steps to take and fears coming up around them. The big failure was a goodie. The success has been that I’m back, I’m locked into both my action and my patience in this process. Not making money yet isn’t holding me back and the lightbulb really went off when that is exactly where I was 20 years ago! Great painting descriptions, story of my social anxiety, planning for participation, and a good book recommendation. Enjoy!

Cruising in the Write Zone: Clarity of Vision and Best Next Steps Through Journaling.

Cruising in the Write Zone: Clarity of Vision and Best Next Steps Through Journaling.

Started with a brief breakdown to match the political breakdown. Recap of unleashing video of drawing for the abstract artist and the grand fail that it was. Not to lose, gonna give it another go this weekend. Launched gallery and latest artwork for sale and how to stick with it when the with it gets sticky. The Write Zone explained - how journaling is a game changer. Following up the blog of the week. The importance of having safe space to express ourselves to ourselves so we’re more ready to let it flow in steps to take. Write easiest and clearest artist statement of my life. Then took a dive into how scary it can be to transition from the safety and solitude of the studio to actually stepping out into the world to interact with artists, galleries, supporters. Getting geared up to be brave and how thinking about it has already sparked artists to reach out to and a museum visit this weekend. Tossed around a few ideas for next weeks show and blog, asking you if there are any questions you want answered or more in-depth stories from my expansive and varied experience. Business building, building confidence, sharing self expression, or how to make really good bbq ribs at home. I made the best salad this week: spinach, pomegranate seeds, blue cheese, candied pecans, and a creamy balsamic dressing. It was delicious. Just like this episode! Cheers!

Making Big Plans Get Into My Belly!

Making Big Plans Get Into My Belly!

Today’s episode is dedicated to being more gentle and gracious with ourselves to better weather. That’s not it. I wish it was as I record from winter. Rainbow paintings complete, gallery up, next step not so sure? Sketched out new paintings and stuck to the plan getting me in front of the easel, with brushes in hand. Outlined how to get over our own selves - obstacles in our way to accomplishing our goals. The obstacle is most likely us. Learning and working through hard lessons. Trusting the future we work at creating without a crystal ball guaranteeing the outcome. The Shearer Guarantee - it is worth the effort if it is an idea sparked, ignited to be made real.

Side Note: Game On Verses Quitting Time

Side Note: Game On Verses Quitting Time

While working on 3 paintings outside my comfort zone I am confronted by my truth, my drive, my ability, and the question; when do we stay the course and when do we quit. This is an examination of the process of an idea and its transformation into reality. It’s not easy but it’s worth it. Paintings will be posted on my website samanthashearer.com as a blog with the same title as this episode. If you have questions, comments, insights please reach out to me via email at sam@samanthashearer.com and have a very happy and safe New Year’s Eve. Cheers!
