Often nurses avoid the "results" section of a paper and are unable to critically review the article. Without an understanding of statistics, the information contained in this section of a research report will be meaningless. An understanding of statistics provides us with the skills necessary to critically review research literature in efforts to develop an evidence-based practice.

In June 2007, APA issued the APA Style Guide to Electronic References. This document is an update to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2001), specifically, section 4.16, pp. 268-281.
