    The Love Album

    The Love Album

The panel discusses the 2006 album Love. A soundtrack to a Cirque du Soleil show, it is also a terrific standalone listening experience. Giles Martin, a then new produce on the Beatles team, carried on his father's legacy and oversaw the project brilliantly.
The new (at the time) mixes brought new life to beloved songs. The mashups, which could have been gimmicky and cheap, were thoughtful and artfully chosen -- they still sound great over 15 years later. Even the sequencing -- starting off with the acapella version of "Because" and ending with the triumphant "All You Need Is Love" -- is deft and tasteful. Along the way, the Beatles of every era is showcased -- sometimes with original tracks, sometimes mashups, sometimes demo versions and alternate takes. The final product is a must-listen for any Beatles fan.

    ------------------------
First we cover some news: recovered Hofner, new Sam Mendes Beatles movies, Rolling Stone "solo Beatles" list, Sean Lennon at the Oscars, and Will's second trip to Liverpool.
THEN we get into covering the new Blue Album remixes.
We like these remixes way more than the ones for early Red Album tracks.
In particular we think Fool on the Hill has been given new life in this remix!
Hey Bulldog was great in mono, but this new stereo mix is fun too. We hear fun new percussion sounds, and a clearly George Harrison riff.
And the guitar solo on Old Brown Shoe really shines!
Blue Album discussion starts at around 40 minutes in.

My favorite Beatles podcast

Captivated by Peter Jackson‘s Get Back documentary and a new found love for one of my favourite bands, I started looking for podcasts to quench my Beatles thirst. This one’s the best, and it‘s not even close. The host and guests might not be as knowledgeable as some of the other experts with Beatles-related shows – but they sure are entertaining, diverse and very enthusiastic. I wish it would come out more regularly, though.

How about a few more Beatles Questions- or Grab-Bag episodes? There are so many videos on YouTube like the one in McCartney‘s old school to talk about. What about the Concerts for Bangladesh and for George? Anthology 2 and 3, bootlegs and compilation albums like the Red and Blue album? Beatles memorabilia and merchandise? The Beatles fashion evolution? Unpopular opinions? Yoko Ono‘s art? Zak Starkey‘s drumming?? Klaus?!

Peace and love!

Detailed and fully committed

As a relatively young Beatles Fan I Love this Podcast. Will is a real Beatles Fan-atic and he and the guests provide a lot of insight musically + background information.
Only the let it be Episode is disappointing - it is the most misterious Album to me and the panel (without Will) changes the approach and just rambles on with losely paying attention to the music playing in the background.

My favorite podcast

Is there any way, Will, you could make Eugene listen to the remaining albums ? Those were my favorite episodes. Also maybe an episode on the Beatles children ? Much love from Germany and please never stop recording this podcast.
