    Ed Servais - Changing Culture, Dealing With Conflicting Philosophies, & Creating A Team Identity

    Today on the show we have the head coach of Creighton Baseball, Ed Servais.

    Coach Servais is a graduate of Wisconsin La Crosse. After college he found his first collegiate coaching job as an assistant at Saint Mary’s in Winona Minnesota. He then moved on to start the baseball program at Viterbo before returning to Saint Mary’s as the Head Coach where he stayed for seven seasons. During his time at Saint Mary’s he was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

    He then moved on to his first DI Coaching position at Iowa State in 1996. He stayed for two season before serving as an assistant at Creighton from 1998 - 2003. He was then named the head coach at Creighton for the 2004 season.

    Coach Servais is starting his 17th season at Creighton where he’s taken the team to four NCAA Tournaments. He is the winningest coach in program history. During his time as head coach, his teams have committed the fewest errors in the nation while leading the country with a .977 fielding percentage.

    Coach and i got a chance to talk about a lot of things like changing culture, dealing with conflicting philosophies, creating a team identity and much much more.

    Today on the show we have Troy Silva.

    Troy played baseball at Cuesta College and Lewis-Clark State college before being drafted by the Cleveland indians. He played professional baseball for six years before being forced to retire after two arm surgeries. He then started teaching at Rijo Athletics where he teaches baseball and softball players hitting and fielding. He also teaches coaches and parents about how to teach and motivate their players and children.

    Troy also runs the baseball family podcast where Troy and his wife share their experiences as a baseball family. We talk more about the podcast today on the show along with how coaches can make baseball fun for their players, how to build confidence, how to avoid unrealistic expectations, and much more.

    Today on the show we have the head coach of Tennessee Tech Baseball, Justin Holmes.

    Coach Holmes was a graduate of Georgia University which is where he started his coaching career as a volunteer assistant. He then moved on to be the hitting coach and first base coach at Mercer. After Mercer he was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Tennessee Tech before moving up to become the head in June of 2018.

    Coach Holmes and I got a chance to talk about a lot of things on today’s show like earning respect, investing in your work, focusing on what happens next and much much more.
