My Camp | Neurodiverse & Thriving at Camp Akeela

My Camp | Neurodiverse & Thriving at Camp Akeela

Dive into an inspiring episode of My Camp with Camp Akeela and its owner and director, Eris Sasson. Camp Akeela is a residential camp in Vermont "where quirky campers thrive!" With camp in their veins, Eric, along with his wife, started Camp Akeela in 2008 after years of summer camp experience between the two of them. Alongside the podcast, Eric has this to say "I love that it's a community where our "quirky" campers can truly belong, connect deeply with a true peer group, be their best selves and grow in profound ways."

The campers at Camp Akeela are excited about a camp experience that supports their social growth. Many have been diagnosed with Asperger’s, ASD 1, NVLD or a similar neurodiverse profile. At Akeela, they truly belong and find lifelong friends. The population of campers is unique because autism spectrum and neurodivergent can mean so many different things. At Camp Akeela, they're passionate about bringing together a group of campers who can thrive in a way that they simply can't in another camp setting.
