Today I’m joined by Lucy McConnell, a dietitian in the making, wine lover and decadent cheese board creator with a passion for healthy living.

Should You Date During Recovery From an Eating Disorder?

Should You Date During Recovery From an Eating Disorder?

Today’s podcast is less science, and more questions of the heart as I answer the question “Should you date during recovery?”
I think this applies to any kind of recovery from a mental health issue such as an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, or a physical health issue like hypothalamic amenorrhea or even a chronic condition like maybe chronic pain or something along those lines.
However, for the purposes of this podcast I’m going to be talking about my experience of dating and how that played into recovery and point out some really key questions you can ask yourself to know if you’re ready or if you are currently in a relationship how to broach the topic with your partner if they don’t know you’re struggling.
Please remember there is no right or wrong answer to this. The only person who knows you best is you!
    In this episode I discuss:
Dating from a healthy headspace instead of trying to fill a void Creating boundaries - the basic rights that determine what we will and won't put up with in relationships How to effectively communicate your needs in relationships and dating so your recovery doesn't take a back seat Dealing with rejection How to be authentically yourself when dating Accepting body changes, owning your worth, and realising you have so much more to offer Sticking with recovery through all the ups and downs of life and dating ❤️ If you enjoyed this episode please leave a 5⭐️ review and share a screenshot on Instagram by tagging myself @sarahlizking and I'll be sure to reshare.

The Art and Science of Coaching with Stan Dutton from Better Coaching

The Art and Science of Coaching with Stan Dutton from Better Coaching

Today I’m joined by Stan Dutton, an unapologetic dog dad, frozen pizza connoisseur, and life-long learner with over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry.
He’s built multiple businesses, at 22 he was the owner of a 2,000 square foot training facility valued at over $1,000,000 within just 4 years - after closing his gym, he built a six-figure online coaching business and began helping hundreds of coaches increase their earnings by 1400% every month on a digital coaching platform.
Stan got tired of seeing the best salespeople make the most money through unethical marketing, “Rapid fat loss programs” and crash diets… And he’s working tirelessly to create a world in which coaches gain the knowledge that they should have learned on day one from their certifications - how to inspire meaningful change using the art and science of coaching.
Despite nearly dropping out of high school, he found success in the industry by surrounding himself with the best in the world - and constantly learning. His mission to create Better Coaches starts with his podcast, Better Coaching where he interviews experts across a diverse range of subjects - movement, psychology, nutrition, and business.
In this episode of Holistic Health Radio I’m excited to chat to Stan about:
His journey from starting out in the fitness industry to where he is now What is coaching and how clients benefit from it over and above just getting an exercise or diet plan What areas of science does coaching pull from? And what is the art to it? Why a holistic approach is so important when working with clients and what that looks in real life Getting unstuck if you’re feeling unmotivated or overwhelmed in your fitness journey The anti-diet versus diet battle going on in the fitness community and how to help people who may have weight loss, weight gain or weight neutral goals for their health How to find a good coach and how to become a better coach if you are one Ways to build a successful coaching business You can find out more about Stan Dutton, his services and listen to his podcast Better Coaching via the links below!

Should You Go "All In" To Recover Your Period From Hypothalamic Amenorrhea

Should You Go "All In" To Recover Your Period From Hypothalamic Amenorrhea

Today’s podcast is about a slightly controversial topic that I get asked about ALL the time in terms of recovery from hypothalamic amenorrhea and getting your period back. And that’s whether or not to go “all in”.
If you've been wondering yourself if this is the right option for you then listen in.
    In this episode I discuss:
What “all in” really means when it comes to recovering your period What an “all in” recovery plan looks like in terms of food intake (calories, carbs, food frequency), exercise, and rest Reasons why you might choose to go “all in” versus a slower approach to recovering your period Questions to ask yourself to decide what approach to hypothalamic amenorrhea recovery is best for you  Where to go for extra help and support to help your recovery process ❤️ If you enjoyed this episode please leave a 5⭐️ review and share a screenshot on Instagram by tagging myself @sarahlizking and I'll be sure to reshare.

Finding a Positive Gym Community, and How to Train Sustainably for Life with Clint Hartley from Hybrid Performance

Finding a Positive Gym Community, and How to Train Sustainably for Life with Clint Hartley from Hybrid Performance

Today I’m joined by Clint Hartley, owner and head coach at Hybrid Performance gym in Canberra. Clint’s focus on holistic health and wellbeing has translated seamlessly into the gym environment where he lives and breathes a philosophy of creating long lasting results for his clients through a strong emphasis on the three pillars of health; Movement, Recovery and Nutrition.
Clint understands that we’re all busy, and when we do have the time to hit the gym, it’s important we get that most out of our time there, which means quality training, coaching, and education is a must.
However, most people find gyms quite intimidating and the fitness culture perpetuated in many places can make it less inviting for people who want to move just to feel good, and not necessarily always focus on aesthetic goals.
If you really want a healthy body and mind, it’s important to find the right gym environment to support that and also good coaches who will teach you sustainable habits and training practices that will help you thrive.
That’s why I’m super excited to have Clint on to discuss:
How he got started in the fitness industry The good and bad sides of fitness culture How to find a positive gym community Quality versus quantity training and the impacts on the body and mind Are all fitness challenges really a bad idea? What training sustainably looks like in real life 👉 Follow Hybrid Performance Gym on Instagram @hybridperformance_gym

7 Ways To Overcome Body Image Hang Ups and Finally Accept Your Here and Now Body

7 Ways To Overcome Body Image Hang Ups and Finally Accept Your Here and Now Body

Body image hang-ups. We all have them.
From cellulite to stretch marks, accepting the weight gain that actually made us a healthier human, and even struggling with feeling worthy or confident, it can feel hard to live in our here and body some days.
While many people shout the words "just love yourself" I don’t really think that’s a tangible answer for many people struggling with body acceptance.
Which is why today I’m going to be going through 7 things you need to stop believing so you can finally accept your here and now body.
    In this episode you'll discover:
How to stop idealising thinness How to stop comparing yourself to others How to stop focusing on things you can't change How to stop comparing your body now to when you were sick Why giving so much power to your physical appearance can be problematic How to reduce negative thinking about your body Ways to practice radical self-acceptance and honour your here and now body ❤️ If you enjoyed this episode please leave a 5⭐️ review and share a screenshot on Instagram by tagging myself @sarahlizking and I'll be sure to reshare.

AusDancersOverseas ,

So helpful getting everything into perspective!

The recent episode on climate anxiety was quite helpful - it out everything back into perspective and allowed to feel again that there is so much more than anger and infuriation. We do underestimate how much everyone can do, every day, despite such an inactive government in denial. Thanks heaps, so good!

Darline S ,

Thank you!

Thank you a lot for this podcast. It has already helped me so much in my recovery journey.
I love the topics you speak about and they always get me on the right track again.
Sending love xx
