No Meat Athlete Radio: Do Plant-Based Meats Have Any Role In a Healthy Diet?
We all know plant meats aren't whole foods. But do they have any redeeming health value, or are they purely vegan junk food? Are they healthier than regular meat would be? How often should we eat them, and should we rely on them as a protein source? Co-hosts Matt Frazier and Isabelle Caputo dive into these questions and more in the big plant-based meat episode of NMA Radio!

How Much Protein Should You Eat to Add Muscle?
For years, plant-based eaters have downplayed the importance of focusing on protein, claiming to get plenty without trying. But recently, as longevity researchers have highlighted the importance of lean muscle as we age, protein has become more deserving of our attention. Matt Tullman has managed to gain more than 15 pounds of muscle in the past six months, primarily by eating more plant-based protein, and of course, shifting his energies from running to lifting weights. In this episode, we dive into the details of his approach, including the important question of whether — in terms of convenience and health — the long-term tradeoff of eating more food to build more muscle is worth it.

great podcast
a very motivating and funny podcast. i love to listen to it while running!
Alcohol culture enabler
I was excited about the episode about the impact of even the slightest bit of alcohol but it was the worst thing I’ve ever listened to.
First of all the topic of the episode wasn’t mentioned for about 20 minutes. It would have been nice to read in the caption where this part starts for people who are not interested in your friendly chat.
Second of all the way you’re talking about alcohol isn’t scientific at all. If you’re discussing this topic talk about the science behind it get into it!
This episode is just showing off how afraid most people are of the truth. Every time you get close to some uncomfortable truth you shy away by saying stuff like: “The cup of green tea in the morning will balance it out.” or “Running is anti cancer so I’m safe.”.
Plus you mentioned that you’re at risk for these illnesses whether you drink or not but didn't talk about the fact that this means alcohol can make these illnesses more severe.
A comparison to this could be that you can get ill whether you eat vegetables or not so you might as well stop eating them altogether. Still you eat them because if you get sick the vitamins from the vegetables will help you get back on track.
It’s the same with alcohol: You make your body ill very slowly but steadily and when you get sick you stop drinking but this is the moment your body gets time to deal with the problems you’ve caused over a long time and not just the worst problems.
I could go on but this is my take on it. I’m very disappointed.
My new favorite podcast
Amazing podcast, even for non-vegans or just veggiecurious people. Just the right balance of information and talk. Ideal for runs!
