Rita Felski, University of Virigina, author of The Limits of Critique and Hooked: Art and Attachment guides us through her actor-network-inspired theories and demonstrates how the key concepts of identification, empathy and attachment can illuminate our reading of Hanne Ørstavik’s novel Love. nordlitt's first trailer announces a three-part miniseries on postcritique. Our guests in the coming weeks are Rita Felski (University of Virginia), Toril Moi (Duke University), and Kjersti Bale (Oslo University). This multi-lingual discussion prepared by a class on "Postkritisch podcasten" explores contested new approaches in literary studies.

Tone Selboe, University of Oslo, Norway, walks us through Norwegian author Cora Sandel's Paris and helps us drift through the thickets of literary modernism and realism. We talk about existences on the margin, painting with words and writing the moving body in this equally sensual and intellectual novel that has followed both Tone and Stefanie throughout their reading lives. We also welcome Cecilia Falkman, nordlitt's new student assistant. She navigates the technical and organizational aspects while bringing the perspective of a first-time reader to our conversation.

Our first guest, Åsa Arping, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, introduces Fredrika Bremer, an international celebrity as well as a pioneer of the domestic novel and of feminism in Sweden. Cecilia Falkman und Aleksandra Piotrowska, Skandinavistik-Studentinnen an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, vergleichen die Darstellung von Geisteskrankheiten und psychiatrischen Anstalten in zwei skandinavischen Romanen. Wir fragen nach der hierarchischen Aufspaltung zwischen Ärzten und Patienten, der Dichotomie von Klinik als Gefängnis oder Zufluchtsort und der Selbstwahrnehmung der Patienten. Mit Hilfe von Foucaults Heterotopien diskutieren wir auch die unsichtbaren Wände, die Kliniken zwischen Patienten und dem Rest der Gesellschaft stellen. Außerdem geht es um die Verbindung zwischen Krankheiten und literarischen Metaphern.

Diese Folge ist von Studierenden des kombinierten Bachelor- und Masterkurses „Tendenzen in der skandinavischen Gegenwartsliteratur“ im Wintersemester 2021/2022 am Nordeuropa-Institut entwickelt und ausgearbeitet worden.
