This series will feature Tennessee teachers working together to implement effective teaching practice into all Tennessee classrooms. Nine instructional strategies have been identified that are most likely to improve student achievement across all content areas and grade levels. These strategies are discussed in the books Classroom Instruction that Works by Robert J. Marzano, Jennifer S. Norford, Diane E. Paynter, Debra J. Pickering and Barbara B Gaddy (2001) and Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works by Howard Pitler, Elizabeth R. Hubbell, and Matt Kuhn (2007). The Tennessee teachers featured in this series will show how they put into practice what has proven to most impact student achievement. These programs will highlight specific strategies and how to use them in the classroom effectively, consistently and pervasively. See how our featured teachers connect the strategies to each other to maximize their value. These selected teachers presently teach a variety of contents to elementary, middle or high school students.
