On November 1, 2007, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) brought together into one organization the staff, operations, and responsibilities of NC State's central IT organizations, Resource Management and Information Systems (RMIS) and the Information Technology Division (ITD). While much has changed as a result of this consolidation, OIT staff remain committed to providing the best possible IT systems and services for the students, faculty and staff of NC State.
The formation of the OIT was a major step in NC State's initiative to reorganize NC State's IT operations under the leadership of a CIO. The Chancellor created a new Vice Chancellor for Information Technology (VCIT) position as part of this initiative, and after a national search, Dr. Marc I. Hoit was named VCIT and CIO. Dr. Hoit took the helm of OIT on September 1, 2008.
OIT Vision: Be the IT organization people seek out as a partner for providing visionary strategies, creative solutions, objective information, and effective and efficient services in order to help them achieve their mission and goals.
OIT Mission: To provide nimble, effective, efficient and collaborative IT services, solutions and strategies in a timely and helpful manner that assists the university, state and nation in achieving their strategic goals.
