Butchers Blind Live in the Lobby 2010

Butchers Blind Live in the Lobby 2010

"When you listen to the music of Butchers Blind you know the future of Alt-Country shines blindingly bright. It’s easy to hear the influences of Wilco, Gram Parsons and The Band in their music, but the real magic is how they blend these ingredients into a musical recipe all their own. Butchers Blind encompasses the rich history of American Roots music, then broadens and reshapes it into something exciting, refreshing and uniquely their own.

Butchers Blind hail from Bellerose, New York and is comprised of Pete Mancini on guitar and vocals, Paul Cianciaruso on drums and vocals, Brian Reilly on bass, and Joe Sanders on lead guitar. In 2011, they signed with Paradiddle Records, an independent record label based out of Huntington, New York. That year they released their debut CD, Play for the Films. The Mancini-penned tunes on Play for the Films were inspired by travel journals kept by his father as well as experiences from his own cross-country travels.

Their new record, Destination Blues, marks a significant step forward for the band. They are venturing into new musical territory while keeping one foot firmly grounded in the sound they established with their first record, Play for the Films. The focus for this CD was on capturing the live energy of their current lineup as they continue to explore and develop their own sound. Destination Blues will be released on Paradiddle Records.

While bands like Whiskeytown and Uncle Tupelo helped shape their Americana roots, the raw energy of the Replacements and the Hold Steady give them a rock sensibility. Pete Mancini’s confident, yet vulnerable vocals give their sound a rich texture. His songwriting draws you in and if you listen close enough you can hear the future of Alt-Country music in every note." Enjoy this show from 2010 as we await the arrival of Destination Blues.

Live in the Lobby Episode 1

Live in the Lobby Episode 1

On Thursday November 8th the Corduroy Sky brought their rocking version of great Americana music to the Patchogue theater for the Performing Arts. The Corduroy Sky has been tearing up the local scene with their brand of high energy rock and roll and full throttle live shows that leave audiences in awe. Quickly becoming a force on Long Island, their twangy guitars, pounding rhythm section, and soulful vocals are all a part of the experience. The Corduroy Sky currently has a studio LP in the works that will be released in the upcoming year. Listen to the show here.

Now entering its eighth season, LIVE IN THE LOBBY has cemented its reputation for supporting, nurturing and encouraging original music from Long Island. Live in the Lobby provides a "listening" setting for all ages, as opposed to the bars and restaurants where so many musicians usually perform and where "cover bands" are often preferred. This "venue within a venue" is an alternative to the 1200 seat Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts' main auditorium and a chance to see the best of today's Local Original Music up close and personal.
