Select Stocks Soar with Renewed Oil Exploration in the West PH Sea
President Duterte’s decision to lift the oil exploration moratorium came about with the impending depletion of our natural gas reserves in Malampaya. The Department of Energy (DOE) issued a “resume-to-work” notice to select companies, allowing them begin petroleum-related activities in certain areas within the West Philippine Sea. Oil exploration stocks surged and hit price ceiling after said news, and one of the biggest beneficiaries is PXP Energy Corp. whose shares jumped by nearly 50% on Friday.
