Traditional Nuclear Families, where white men marry white women, have 2.2 kids, a Golden Retriever, and a white picket fence, are becoming a thing of the past.

But with all the progress we've (supposedly) made in creating a fair world for more families, then why (oh WHY) are blended families/stepfamilies, LGBTQ+ families, common-law families, and non-white families still regarded as *less than?*

Your host, Brittany Lynch BScN, CSC, speaks to womxn in non-traditional families, explores the lies that society has taught us since we were children, and seeks to have you examine the disconnect between who you really are, and who society expects you to be. She gets up-close and personal with nitty-gritty topics such as mental health and mental illness, addiction, white supremacy, and the patriarchy.

Brittany worked as a Registered Nurse for nearly a decade before obtaining a post-degree certification in Stepfamily Counselling. She made the empowered choice to create her own life, and retired from the patriarchy (nursing) to pursue entrepreneurship. Brittany is a diehard feminist, speaker, regular featured writer for StepMom Magazine, and the founder Stepqueen.

Join your host and her guests as they guide you to get curious about new perspectives, examine the world through a new lens, and challenge the status quo. Because after all, you deserve an even better life.

The Way Life Used To Be: How To Embrace Your New Normal

The Way Life Used To Be: How To Embrace Your New Normal

Most stepmoms have, at some point along their journey, looked longingly toward the past. Toward the way life used to be.

A life of freedom, of spontaneity, of independence.

But have you ever stopped to wonder why it can be so hard for many stepmoms to adjust to their new lives? Why so many stepmoms have a similar experience, in feeling that they lost a part of themselves when they gained their spouse and stepchildren?

    In this episode, you'll learn...

The similarities that stepmoms share with bio-moms when it comes to becoming a parent

The missing piece that can ease the transition to overnight parent

Why it's critical to match who we are on the inside with the type of life we want to see on the outside

One of the biggest mistakes I see stepmoms making over and over and over again is believing that the more they give to their spouse and stepkids, the more appreciated they'll feel.

But in fact, usually it's the stepmoms who give the MOST who end up feeling the most UNAPPRECIATED!

So what gives? Why do so many stepmoms feel so unappreciated? Why do so many stepmoms feel like they're invisible? And if this is you, then what the BEEP can you do about it?

    In this episode find out:

The truth about where the "need to give" comes from

    The underlying motives behind giving

The hard truth about whose responsibility it is to appreciate you and how

The STEPS you can take so that you can move from stressed to blessed.
