January 18, 2023 was an amazing historic day as we celebrated the inauguration of Governor Wes Moore and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller in the state of Maryland. Russell shares his thoughts on this day while reflecting on his relationship with his friend Wes and his hopeful optimism for the Moore-Miller administration. Russell remembers his uncle Reginald F. Lewis as the following day, January 19th marked 30 years since his passing. He also shares about his ancestors as Russell pounders the 30 year arch of time that has passed. Lastly, Russell ends the episode by sharing how he shared part of inauguration day with his friend Chris, culminating in a amazing and cool moment at the inaugural ball.

On January 11, 2023 Russell gave a brief address to the students, faculty, and staff at his alma mater, Georgetown Prep. This year's theme at Prep is Hope. Russell draws from Romans 5 and shares a bit of his reflections on his time at prep, referencing Prep as his beloved community in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King. Russell challenges the Prep community to make perseverance its identity and to leverage character in seeking their vocation. In doing this he says we can achieve our mission of being men for others. 

In December 2021,  Russell interviewed his father Jean Fugett Jr. on the occasion of his 70th birthday. In a brief but wide ranging lecture, Jean shares his perspective on being Black in America, history, education, his ancestors, and his hopes for the world his grandchildren will inherit. This episode is dedicated to his grandchildren- August Russell, Paige Mariah, Axel William, and Natalie Josephine. 

On February 15th, 2022, Russell shared his family story to the 900 students of Joseph R. Fugett Middle School in West Chester, PA. Joseph R. Fugett is Russell's namesake and great grandfather. Russell tells the story of his great grandfather 6 times over, Henry Bakeman, a free Black man who fought in American Revolutionary War. He tells his great great and great grandfather's stories as well as those of his grandfather Jean S. Fugett Sr., father Jean S. Fugett Jr, and Uncle Reginald F. Lewis.  

Russell and his family share their memories of Gen. Colin Powell. First, Russell shares his story of two times he missed out on meeting General Powell. Then Russell's cousin Marcus Fugett shares his story of meeting the General at a party in New York with he and Russell's uncle Reginald F. Lewis. To conclude, Russell's father Jean Fugett Jr. tells the his story of a meeting he had with General Powell at the Pentagon as he prepared to fly to Paris to take the helm as the new CEO of Beatrice Foods after his brothers passing.
