Talking Politics: HISTORY OF IDEAS
A new series of talks by David Runciman, in which he explores some of the most important thinkers and prominent ideas lying behind modern politics – from Hobbes to Gandhi, from democracy to patriarchy, from revolution to lock down. Plus, he talks about the crises – revolutions, wars, depressions, pandemics – that generated these new ways of political thinking. From the team that brought you Talking Politics: a history of ideas to help make sense of what’s happening today. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Not just for Talking Politics and/or David Runciman fans (if “fans” is the right word for “stuff” like this)! A thoughtful, varied and accessible (i.e. an interested everywoman as I am was challenged but not overwhelmed) contribution to the development of political ideas and theory in modern times. Enjoyed immensely the first series (some episodes of which I will surely listen to again) and look forward to the next.
Extraordinary

Great podcast with an astonishing selection of thinkers with their texts. Should there be a new series, Foucault’s lecture on biopolitics would be on my wish list as it contains an important criticism of Hayek and neo-liberal thought.
Excellent

The best introduction to political theorists and their theorising that there is. Can’t recommend highly enough
