    LABELING IN THE COMMUNITY

    LABELING IN THE COMMUNITY

“A label locks me into a definition that people use to control me. A vision graces me with an idea that serves to release me.”
    ― Craig D. Lounsbrough

Based on the labels within the community to define and identify people's preferences, Jax & Toxic Suspension delve into the top and bottom dynamics and lightly into other labels/preference terms.

DISCLAIMER : This conversation is strictly on their preferences and experiences and does not reflect the whole community's feelings. This is the reason why the pair welcome all views on the matter (especially from sub-communities we are not a part of).

    COMING OUT (Feat. Lennie)

    COMING OUT (Feat. Lennie)

“The closet does have a benefit. It provides safety. Which at times is important. But remember, as long as you are in there, two other things will be too. Fear and shame.”
    ― Anthony Venn-Brown

Through extensive digression, the banter between Jax, Toxic Suspension and Lennie (Guest) moves through the never ending process of coming out and delves into different facets of the process. There isn't one set formula and one constantly needs to come out to different people. We hope that through our conversation we may build understanding with alliances, strength within ourselves as a community and the ability to love one another through it all.

    REPRESENTATION IN MEDIA

    REPRESENTATION IN MEDIA

“I would not know how I am supposed to feel about many stories if not for the fact that the TV news personalities make sad faces for sad stories and happy faces for happy stories. ”
    ― Dave Barry

Consider that in the history of media, the LGBT community has been stereotyped and portrayed in ways that deem us abnormal, "fixable", abominations or adulterous. An evolution can however be traced through television and music with the nature of shows transition from this narrative and into more positive representation of the community and its sub-communities.

Jax and Toxic Suspension discuss the influence of media in their lives and the impact it has had or could have on the queer community or its allies.

DISCLAIMER- The Digression is Real! (As with any conversation). Not only did we leave out many shows (like Drag Race and the influence it has amassed)from the conversation but we also forgot to delve in many other forms of media. This discussion deals with movies, television and a little music. We appreciate all LGBT content creation and look forward to being exposed to it.
