From Foster Care to Figueroa
The day Aandi turned 18 she was put on a one way flight to Los Angeles with a contractors bag full of everything she owned. She was passing classes and making friends in high school in Arizona, but as soon as her state-mandated funding ran out, the foster care agency gave her a choice: Homeless Shelter or distant relative? She chose the latter, and after a falling out with an uncle she’d never met before Aandi was homeless for over a year.
