Compassionate Communication with Scott Catamas is for anyone who wants to improve their relationships and connections. This program offers tools and techniques that all listeners can apply to their lives. These tools are nondenominational and cross-cultural. They are taught throughout the world and are simple yet effective.
Scott is a Master Coach and Communicator who travels throughout the United States, Europe and Asia teaching these tools. This program will frequently come live from various cities around the world where Scott is teaching. Guests will bring real relationship issues to Scott, where the tools will be demonstrated and practiced.
During this program you can learn:
● New ways to enjoy life more fully, despite any challenge.
● How to express yourself in ways that others can fully hear you.
● How to solve a problem with everyone involved feeling understood.
● How to be the best parent and/or friend you always wished to be.
● How to set boundaries in a compassionate way.
● How to stay connected to yourself, even when you are scared.
● How to stay connected to others, even when you are angry or triggered.
● The tools and practices of Compassionate Communication, based on Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication system.
Listenerns can learn and practice these tools throughout the day and apply them to any and all of their relationships. Scott also provides free materials on his website at www.LoveCoachScott.com.
The ideas and opinions expressed on this program do not necessarily reflect the teachings of Unity. Unity respects a wide range of spiritual thoughts and beliefs, as reflected in the diverse range of subjects presented on Unity Online Radio.
How to Use Compassionate Communication in Difficult Family Dynamics
Scott and Gabriele will be joined by other facilitators and practitioners of these tools in discussing the use of these tools in very difficult situations. The focus will be on our family relationships: using these tools with our children, parents, siblings and romantic partners. We will also address difficult connections with past partners (exes such as "Was-bunds" and "Was-Wives"). At least one of our guests will be from the staff of The Sunrise Center, an organization in San Francisco that provides a wide variety of classes, events and workshops designed to create greater joy in the world. All of the staff members have extensively trained in Compassionate Communication and teach throughout the Bay Area.
Reflections on Marriage as a Spiritual Path
For our wedding anniversary, we are dedicating this episode to be an honest exploration of marriage as a Spiritual Path. The tools of Compassionate Communication have been essential to our marriage, as we are extraordinarily different people. Our special guest for this episode is Kutira Decosterd, world-renowned author, teacher, facilitator, founder of The Kahua Institute in Hawaii, and a longtime friend who performed our wedding ceremony. The purpose of The Kahua Institute is to explore and teach new ways of awakening the divine, opening the heart, and creating ecological sustainability both within and without. Together we will offer practical ways to develop an authentic relationship with one's "Higher Self," "God Self," soul, and look at it from both the point of view of connection to Self, to the Divine, to our family, friends and romantic beloveds.
"Oneness" and Compassionate Communication
Many of the spiritual traditions that Scott and Gabriele have explored point to the state of "ONENESS" as an achievable experience, even in the Western world. In this episode, they will discuss the specific tools available for achieving a greater state of "ONENESS," even with individuals that we are in conflict with. Of course, it does start with the self and there are very specific ways to achieve a deeper connection of PRESENCE/ONENESS. Scott and Gabriele have traveled throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, teaching and "truth seeking" and have been especially touched by the dynamic work of "THE UNIVERSITY OF ONENESS" in Southern India. Certified facilitators from that path will be joining us for this episode as well, in addition to some friends who have attended our workshops.
Spontaneous Evolution and Heartland Security: From Ideal to Real Deal
Scott and Gabriele are longtime fans of the wit and wisdom of Steve Bhaerman, an internationally known author, humorist and workshop leader. For the past 23 years, he has written and performed as Swami Beyondananda, the "Cosmic Comic." Swami's comedy has been called "irreverently uplifting" and described as "comedy disguised as wisdom" and "wisdom disguised as comedy." In this episode, Steve will talk about the encouraging new story being told by "new edge" science that echoes ancient wisdom: We are all part of a new super-organism called Humanity, and understanding how we are part of this new community makes us healthier, happier and more free. He’ll also talk about his newest book (co-authored with Joseph McCormick), Reuniting America: A Toolkit for Changing the Political Game, which offers Joseph's story of political transformation, as well as the principles and practices of convening transpartisan meet-ups in your town.
Romancing the Eternal Beloved
Valentine's Day can be a wonderful day to show love and enjoy romantic connection. However, it can also be a very hard day, especially for those who are single. It can also be a day in which couples cannot live up to the expectations of the other. In this episode, Scott and Gabriele will discuss the greatest romance of all: between ourselves and the Divine/The "Eternal Beloved." This is the relationship that we can always cultivate, whether we are single or in relationship. We will also discuss practical ways to develop an authentic relationship with one's "Higher Self,” "God Self" and “Soul.” We will look at it from both the point of view of singles and couples. Prior to the show, listeners are encouraged to go to www.LoveCoachScott.com and download free worksheets that will help you to understand and practice the tools of Compassionate Communication.
Taking Responsibility for HOW We Experience Life
Compassionate Communication on a deeper level is a way of thinking. Dr. Marshall Rosenberg suggests that we ask ourselves two questions throughout each day: "What is ALIVE in me?" and "How can I make life more wonderful?" Join Scott and Gabriele as they discuss the challenges, joys, and practices for taking personal responsibility for how we experience the world. Joining them will be one or two other Compassionate Communication coaches! Prior to the program, listeners are encouraged to go to www.LoveCoachScott.com and download free worksheets that will help you to understand and practice the tools of Compassionate Communication.
