482 episodes

After 25 years at the Late Night desk, Conan realized that the only people at his holiday party are the men and women who work for him. Over the years and despite thousands of interviews, Conan has never made a real and lasting friendship with any of his celebrity guests. So, he started a podcast to do just that. Deeper, unboundedly playful, and free from FCC regulations, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend is a weekly opportunity for Conan to hang out with the people he enjoys most and perhaps find some real friendship along the way.

The Missing commercial bit that never happened.

For the longest time my favorite bit on the podcast was when Conan would tee up a commercial that would then never come. I loved the commitment to the joke episode after episode after episode… Come to realize there are just no commercials when you live in Denmark. It’s still funny though 🌺 I love the podcast.

The worst thing Conan could do!

Hey Conan, Sons and Matt!

I was asked in school to write a tabloid article about something, and I immediately thought about the worst thing Conan could do. So based on an example from the mighty Conan himself, I wrote this. Love the podcast so very much!

Ginger rat caught scurrying away from wheelchair kid disaster!

Conan O’brien was seen coming to a coffee shop on Wilshire Boulevard, LA. When he saw the line he decided to cut in front of a disabled young boy in a wheelchair. “Hey there, wheely!”, O’brien spouted maniacally in the voice of a 20th century detectives. The boy, seeing his favourite comedian/talkshow host/icon/god for the first time, asked for a photo with Conan. O’brien screamed no and said, “ye are not important, little weasel, get thee gone and take thy stupid chair with thee!”. He then proceeded buy coffee in front of the weeping invalid and walking over to the nearest seat, accidentally spilling coffee on the kid, in a nonchalant careless way. The boy, having just lost the perfect image of his hero, came up to O’briens seat and asked why he was cut of and denied the simple request of a photo. Witnesses confirm that O’brien would then proceed to do 20+ minutes of excruciating unfunny schtick about the boy’s wheelchair and how he liked to walk around because he could. The awful routine ended suddenly when O’brien kicked the boy in the head, when imitating a waltzing ostrich. Witnesses later explain that it was the most accurate depiction of an ostrich made by a human, they had ever seen. O’brien’ abnormally long legs seem to capture perfectly, the essens and attitude of an androgynous and ignorant giant bird. After the kick, the boy fell to the floor and O’brien ran out of the shop and down the boulevard in pathetic confusion and distress.
