Discussing Eminent Domain & Transmission In Iowa With The Center For Rural Affairs

Since 1973, with offices in both Iowa & Nebraska, the Center For Rural Affairs has been an organization that is "unapologetically rural”, one that "stand[s] up for the small family farmer & rancher, new business owner, & rural communities." Recently, the nonprofit organization wrote about “transmission” & “eminent domain” in Iowa, topics that of course has been making headlines for quite some time. So to discuss how these issues work in the state, Des Moines FM host Chance Dorland  spoke with the Center for Rural Affairs’ Stephanie Enloe and Lu Nelson.

The Rise & Fall Of Kim Weaver, Iowa's 4th District Democratic Opponent To Steve King

The Rise & Fall Of Kim Weaver, Iowa's 4th District Democratic Opponent To Steve King

Only a few short months ago, former 4th district Iowa Congressional candidate Kim Weaver seemed to have it all. After raising thousands of dollars in donations as a result of controversial comments & tweets by current 4th district Congressman Steve King, Weaver was poised to have a stronger campaign for a possible Democratic primary & subsequent election campaign. This situation, & Representative King's reputation for being "Iowa's Donald Trump", led many to believe it might finally be enough to elect a Democrat in Iowa's 4th district. However, an investigative report by the Des Moines Register that revealed Weaver's past as an online psychic brought that momentum to an end, & Weaver eventually pulled out of the race citing multiple issues she faced, including eventually placing some of the blame on fellow Democrats.

BleedingHeartland.com political blogger Laura Belin spoke with Des Moines FM host Chance Dorland to try to bring clarity to these & other events that took place during the rise & fall of Kim Weaver.
