Fairness in Sports: Why Can't Transgender People Play, Too?

Fairness in Sports: Why Can't Transgender People Play, Too?

The issue of transgender athletes and their participation in sports has been a topic of debate in recent years. Some people believe that transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete in sports, while others argue that they should be allowed to compete.

The question of whether transgender athletes should be allowed to compete often centers around concerns about fairness and safety. Opponents of transgender athletes competing in sports argue that transgender athletes have physical advantages over cisgender athletes, and that this gives them an unfair advantage in competition.

However, many experts and organizations argue that there is no evidence to support the idea that transgender athletes have an unfair advantage in sports. The International Olympic Committee, for example, has established guidelines for the inclusion of transgender athletes in the Olympics, and these guidelines require that transgender athletes meet certain criteria, including having a testosterone level below a certain threshold, before being allowed to compete.

The ladies of Educated & Evolved support the right for transgender people to participate in sports. It is important to ensure that all athletes, regardless of their gender identity, are able to participate in sports in a fair and safe manner.

    Educator Burnout: Actionable Steps

Thank you for listening to part one of Educator Burnout. Today we are presenting part two which includes actionable steps. During this episode we explore ways to help educators with burnout as well as actionable steps you can take today to support educators in your community. Some ways to help educators are  volunteering your time, supporting local education initiatives, and advocating for education funding by contacting your elected officials and urging them to support education funding at the local, state, and national levels. In addition, show appreciation. Educators work hard and often go unrecognized for their efforts. Take the time to thank the educators for all that they do to help educate our future generations.

Educator Burnout: What Are You Going To Do About It?

Educator Burnout: What Are You Going To Do About It?

Today's topic is one that is near and dear to our hearts. Our topic today is about the burnout of educators. Frustration among educators is a common issue in the education system. Common frustrations are lack of support, large class sizes, low pay and benefits, administrative demands, and high-stakes testing. To address frustration among educators, it is important to provide adequate support and resources, prioritize educator wellbeing and development, and involve educators in decision-making processes that affect their work. Additionally, it is crucial to recognize the value of educators and compensate them fairly for their work.

For those who are serious about helping now, please volunteer at a school. Registration and background checks are required. If you're saying you don't have kids in school and this doesn't matter, think again cause your power is also in your votes. Because of the importance of this matter, we will be doing a follow-up to help everyone understand ways you can help.

    Are We Above Reproach?

    Are We Above Reproach?

Today we are discussing the alarming increase of people who act or think they are above correction. If you are afraid to be accountable for something you have done wrong, it is important to remember that apologizing and taking responsibility is a crucial part of personal growth and building positive relationships with others. How many times per week do you hear of or about someone who refuses to take accountability for their words and/or deeds? It occurs too frequently in society. People appear to be timid about correcting others out of fear.

Remember, being accountable and genuinely apologizing when you are wrong is a sign of maturity and strength, not weakness. It can be uncomfortable, but it is an important part of personal growth and building positive relationships with others.

The Role & Impact of Montessori Education

We are excited to introduce our guest, Jovetta Dennis. Having initially met over 20 years ago while working in education, Jovetta is a long-time educator, mentor, and friend to us all. Jovetta has been an educator for 33 years. Ms. Dennis is currently the Assistant Principal at Oakdale Elementary in Charlotte, NC. In today’s episode, Jovetta will share information regarding how and why she and late husband chose Montessori education for their daughter as well as the impact it has had.

What is Montessori? The Maria Montessori Theory is an educational approach that emphasizes individualized instruction and self-paced learning. It is based on the belief that children are naturally curious and capable of learning independently. (Source) Knowing what we know about the differences in how children learn, acquire, obtain and retain knowledge I’ve researched and wondered why so many African American parents don’t opt to enroll their students into Montessori schools.
