Faith: My testimony and common Christian misconceptions This Ordinary Girl

    • Christianity

Hey girl,  Happy Friday! It bugged me so much that I hadn't done a video sharing my faith in Christ and so here it is. Though I was surely all over the place I hope this offered some insight into ways that our society makes Christianity seem horrible and oppressive but is in fact that exact opposite. I hope it inspires you to get to know Christ and experience His true love for yourself. I know what it's like to walk in brokenness and to buy into the lies that our culture feeds us about what liberation looks like: it looks like less clothes because somehow that is empowering to us females, to be reduced to nothing but our bodies, it looks like materialism; because that expensive bag will somehow make you a better person, it's that relationship; which needs to be goals and exist all over instagram so others can think you're happy though inside you are so miserable. I know what the trauma is like, the horrible things you didn't deserve to happen to you, but they did. I know the loneliness and the way that it is hard to believe that anyone could ever understand how desperately alone and terrified you are, I know it too well.

I did everything I was supposed to according to the world to feel better, andI didn't. The more I gave into what was supposed to make me feel good and feel more liberated, the more I walked into my own brokenness and my own bondage. Just because something feels good to the flesh doesn't make it good to the soul. It's in the same way that junk food tastes so good but it so harmful. Living out your faith and your life with Christ won't always feel good, you will be convicted of things that you need to change, and your flesh will fight that because all we want is to feel good. But God doesn't convict us of things because He wants us to feel bad- it's because He wants us to walk out of the brokenness and into real freedom. It's hard because naturally we will desire things that go against what God wants for us, but God gives us strength and walks with us every step of the way.
