This week, Beth Larcom ’16 visited the show and had a wide-ranging conversation with Devin. They cover what it was like growing up on the island, and how that influenced Beth's transition to St. George’s once high school rolled around. Mixed in with all of this is how hockey, Beth's sports passion, has remained a constant in her life from childhood up through her recent years playing D1 hockey at Harvard. Plus, when Devin discovers that Beth has an interest in pursuing teaching after graduation, he can't resist but ask her more about what that passion entails.

Getting back to an interview after last week's movie podcast, Devin welcomes Henry Savage to the show. Henry spent all four years of high school at the Hilltop, and during that time was involved with football, swimming, and lacrosse. He now attends Bowdoin College in Maine and attributes much of his athletic and academic drive to his time at St. George's. He and Devin and also chat about what it's like to be from a coastal area, and how important the ocean is to them.

Are you missing the MLB season? Devin sure is, and turns out that Dean of Students Xander Jones is in the same boat. The two of them decided that the best way to cope with the void of live baseball is to turn to the wide array of baseball movies out there that celebrate the sport and all its idiosyncrasies. After talking a little about how each of them fell in love with baseball (spoiler alert, Xander has a much more interesting story than Devin) the two offer up their top fives which span all manner of sub-genres and time periods. So grab some Big League Chew, a slightly spongy hot dog, and settle in for episode two of "Fire Away!"

In the premiere episode of "Fire Away!" Devin sits down with Sebastian Boivin, a Class of 2018 graduate who spent two years at the Hilltop. During their conversation, Sebastian delves into how hockey brought him to St. George's, and even so how lacrosse had his heart by the time he graduated. Sebastian also fills Devin in on what the process was like to transfer from his initial college into the Division 1 program he is now a part of, and how his St George's experience set him on a path to find his passion in life. As a bonus, Sebastian indulges Devin's pop culture obsession and the two talk a little bit about the stories keeping them sane during quarantine.

Introducing "Fire Away!" a new podcast from St. George's School. Hosted by faculty member and soccer coach Devin McGrath-Conwell, "Fire Away!" will feature interviews with recent St. George's alumni, faculty members, and current students all focused on sports within and beyond the St. George's community. A truncated season one will focus on recent alumni who play spring sports, and conversations about alternative ways to engage with our favorite sports even though COVID-19 has shuttered seasons for the time being.
