Short episode this week as we switch gears between the seasons! This is part one of a two part episode with our close friend - Kimberly Johnson. She caught the fly fishing bug in Montana but had to learn how to fish in San Francisco’s Bay Area. How do you do this? We’ll tell you. We’ll also tell you about her being a non-profit worker, ladanglers, cycling in Seattle, how to avoid chaffing while cycling in Seattle, what to call lady anglers if not ladanglers, saltwater fishing’s unique gear requirements, the last fly shop in San Francisco proper (shout out: Lost Coast Outfitters!) and the best methods to accidentally hook joggers. In this week’s episode we talk to a woman who has transformed her life for the better by casting off expectations and control of others to pursue her own fulfillment in Montana. A former investment banker, Mandy Dearborn shares her life story and how she fell in love with the Treasure State. Must listen for anyone who feels like they arent really “who they are” in their current setting and for anyone who is reconsidering city living in these COVID times. Eva Longoria pops up, we talk about working at a hot springs and what you need to know to thrive if you decide to pack up and head into the American wild.

We continue with Shawna and leverage her expertise to dive deep into wilderness first aid, what you need in a first aid kit, adaptability, common sense, drinking enough water, tourniquet etiquette, making AEDs more accessible outdoors, generally diagnosing issues on the trail, SAMPLE, DOTS, altitude sickness and everything OTHER than a rain jacket you need to survive in the wild.
