Growing up watching her mom work in the city, for this young cleaner it was obvious that this would be her path as well. At seventeen she took her first job in Shanghai and has never looked back.

Born and raised during the Cultural Revolution in China, life has never been easy for this now 58 year old cleaner. She raised four children in the countryside and then ready for the next challenge, she bought herself a one way bus ticket to Shanghai.

A middle-age migrant worker recounts her journey from the countryside to the mega city of Shanghai. She is still considered an outsider there but is lured in by the independent lifestyle she had built for herself.
