    LUNA Microangiography - Hennepin Dive TV

    LUNA Microangiography - Hennepin Dive TV

    We’re back to discuss LUNA microangiography.

    Joining me today is Dr. Tom Masters and Ryan Wudtke, one of our stupendous hyperbaric techs.

    We will discuss what LUNA is, what it does, situations where this is currently utilized, set up, contraindications and some potential future uses.

    Below are a couple LUNA imaging examples as well.

    Left foot frostbite injury showing decreased bloodflow to the distal toes.

    Right 5th ray amputation site with ischemic area along the suture line (sutures were immediately removed by podiatry while obtaining this image).

    Hello againThis time we’re doing something a little different and talking with two of our technicians (ie the ones who run the chamber).This is more of a discussion on what their jobs entail and some of the technical aspects to running a hyperbaric chamber.

    Case 6 – Radiation Cystitis - Hennepin Dive TV

    Case 6 – Radiation Cystitis - Hennepin Dive TV

    Hello hello,

    We’re back to talk about a little less emergent issue though one that is quite debilitating for those afflicted by it: Radiation Cystitis.

    This can be a debilitating disease causing frequent pain, bladder spasms and hematuria causing many to frequent EDs/ clinic for obstructive symptoms or symptomatic anemia.

    This month we discuss a case, some pathophysiology and management in the acute setting and how we treat these patients in the hyperbaric chamber.

    Case 5 – NSTI - Hennepin Dive TV

    Case 5 – NSTI - Hennepin Dive TV

    Hello again

    This time we discuss Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections or NSTI.

    We talk a little pathophys, ED management and our management at the chamber.

    Basic pathophysiology:

    HBO can enhance phagocytic abilities of PMNs and other cells of the body, enhance the bacterial killing potential of antibiotics, reduce edema and increase oxygen delivery to locally hypoxic areas which can slow the progress of facultative anaerobes and other bacteria.

    The higher oxygen tension stops the production of the alpha toxin with clostridial infections.

    In the podcast we cover the following:

    * A case

    * Definitions and proposed pathophysiology

    Case 3 – CRAO - Hennepin Dive TV

    Case 3 – CRAO - Hennepin Dive TV

    Case 3 – CRAO

    Hyperbaric oxygen has many uses not only related to diving related injuries.

    This case demonstrates a use that has nothing to do with the water: central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO).

    We have previously discussed this at EMDocs as well here.

    We discuss the following:

    * 2 cases

    * Anatomy and pathophysiology of this disease

    * Work up in the acute care setting

    * Other considerations

    * Need for hospitalization (these patients should probably get a stroke work up for their eye stroke)

    * Ophthalmology management

    * Stroke work up

    * Hyperbaric management

    * HCMC hyperbaric data

    Case 1

    Case 2

    * Initial vision: 20/400
