18: Competition and Non-Combat
As we look forward to Trial By Dice 2021, we take a look at what constitutes competitive play in roleplaying and examine some different ways of measuring progress in tournament-style games. We talk experience points, skills, wealth, character advancement, and the X-card gets mentioned again because of course it does. After a brief tangent praising Osprey Publishing's game line Henry bridges the middle of the episode with a bit of chat about a recently completed Cypher campaign and why Cypher makes for great stories. In answer to more Instagram questions - we come up with ten commandments for being a good player at the gaming table, and discuss how you can do your part to make the game better and the story stronger! Also Jamie gets mad about players looking at their phones during a game, and Henry gets mad about having to schedule games as well as write them.
