In March of 1996, a 19-year-old Swedish au pair went missing after a night out with friends in Boston. When only part of her body was uncovered in a nearby dumpster, and investigation began to find the rest of her, along with her killer. But with suspicions falling on various people - from her host, to various men in her company on her final evening, police had all but a smoking gun. As the search continued, suspicious letters began to emerge from her friends back home, with police learning that just weeks before her murder, something bad had happened to her that she didn’t feel comfortable explaining in the letter - saying that she was cutting her trip short, and returning home to Sweden in the coming weeks. This is the story of Karina Holmer.
